BerkeleyHaas Healthcare Conference

About

This year's Haas Healthcare Conference will feature dynamic panels, start-up pitches, a case competition, company expo, and networking reception.

Description

For the past eleven years, students from the Haas Healthcare Association at University of California, Berkeley have organized the Berkeley-Haas Healthcare Conference to bring together over 500 corporate leaders, graduate students, life sciences innovators, digital health entrepreneurs, and public health champions to explore market and sector trends.

In our eleventh year of the Conference, we celebrate diversity, innovation, and partnerships across all sectors of healthcare. We aim to connect the most passionate minds in healthcare to develop innovative solutions for the world’s most difficult health challenges.

Morning Panel | Mind the Gap: Addressing Health Disparities Through Cross-Sector Partnership
It’s no secret that the U.S. health system is fraught with disparities when it comes to access and delivery of care – particularly in our minority populations. In this session, we will hear TED-style talks from four panelists about sector-bridging solutions their organizations have come up with to remedy some of these disparities.

Morning Panel | Partnering Along the Pipeline: Development to Delivery in Global Health
In a healthcare landscape increasingly motivated by value-based care, how do we navigate the patchwork system of that has evolved in mental health in a landscape increasingly motivated by value-based care? In this panel, we will explore exciting new partnerships between private companies and the public sector that are pushing the boundaries of how we think about delivering high quality mental health care.

Afternoon Panel | Defining Value: Cross-Sector Approaches to Optimizing Quality, Cost, and Patient Outcomes
For American consumers, the word healthcare has become synonymous with [high] prices and [poor] value. As scrutiny on issues of cost and value has intensified, how have different stakeholders responded (or not responded)? What does the future hold, and how will stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem collaborate on issues of cost and value to better address patient needs?

Afternoon Panel | A New Model for Mental Health? Using Public/Private Partnerships to Enhance Care Quality
How can cross-sector partnerships in global health help to bring ideas along the path from conception through development, to implementation and delivery? This panel will feature speakers with expertise in the different “life” stages (upstream and downstream) of devices, programs, and policies that aim to improve the health of the world’s most underserved populations.

Final Panel | Shaping Behavior, by Design: What Does 'Patient-Centered' Really Mean?
'Human-centered design' seems to be the en vogue topic in Silicon Valley circles - but what does that mean for healthcare? As more and more healthcare organizations make bids at redesigning systems and products to put patients' needs at the center, what has worked, and what hasn't? This panel will explore how we can take lessons from other industries as we venture forward towards this 'patient-centered' approach.

Fireside Chat | Making Inaccessible, Accessible: By Unlocking the Power of the Genome
An exponential decrease in the cost of DNA sequencing is enabling the generation of genomic data on a scale we never could have imagined. Far from being confined to the lab, the implications of these advances will touch all aspects of healthcare as we know it. Join us for a fireside chat to discuss exciting new applications of this technology, and how it might be used to across the health system.
