How it started
Right out of high school, at 18 years old, Bernard started apprenticing for a jeweler in the Jewelers Building. He loved the work and decided to pursue it further.
Bernard got to know Tewksbury through a friend and recalls, "Although there were other jewelers in town, no one offered on site repairs and custom work like we do. I liked it here and decided to have a family and create our business." We recently moved to our third location in town, which is allowing us to further expand our inventory and has given us more room to perform intricate jewelry repairs and create spectacular custom designs for our customers.

"Customer service and quality is the bread and butter of any great business. We offer a great experience when you come into our store. Anyone can compete with price, we want to make sure that you're more than happy with what you came in for whether it's buying, selling, or repairing jewelry. Using our state-of-the-art technology laser welder, we can repair anything, even eyeglasses. We repair on site and create custom pieces. In our store you can find something for everyone - from costume jewelry to diamonds and gold. We have a new program that allows us to virtually create any piece of jewelry as you watch. It presents you with a life-like picture so you know exactly what you'll be getting before you purchase each piece. We also offer insurance appraisals with an excellent independent gemologist who has been working in the industry for many years."
Bernard takes as much pride in his quality workmanship as Suzan takes in assisting customers find just the right piece of jewelry to fit their needs and their pocketbook. This intricate weaving of teamwork and expertise has lead to great success in their business.
Alex and Gabi
The oldest daughter, Alexandra, graduated from Tewksbury High with the class of 2013 and is now a full time employee in our store. Gabrielle, the youngest, just graduated from Tewksbury High with the class of 2014, and is also now working full time.
Alex, in addition to all her other responsibilities, came up with the idea of selling costume jewelry; now she and Gabi run this special jewelry section in the store. Alex is outgoing and into fashion. She makes clothes and has a fashion blog using Instagram.
Gabi's latest obsession is watching The Walking Dead. She's great with technology for us in the store. She even made our website and is the one in control of this Facebook! (Yes that is me talking in third person.)
They'll both be continuing their education online with GIA, the Gemological Institute of America. They are the future owners of Bernard Jewelers
