Beth El is a pluralistic community and welcomes members who have diverse backgrounds, ideas, levels of knowledge, and observance. We are an egalitarian Conservative congregation and a member of the Southeast Seaboard District of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism, which hosts this website.

We also offer an Orthodox Kehillah affiliated with the Orthodox Union for those who wish to worship in accordance with that tradition.

"Beth El Synagogue is a pluralistic and diverse congregation welcoming all who wish to enjoy an enriching experience through spiritual growth, observance and mitzvot. We seek to create a Kehilla, a Jewish village, molding responsible citizens of our local communities and the larger world."

Reviews

Conservative and Orthodox under one roof, and some weeks an additional chavurah service. You need a pretty robust community to sustain all that! Eruv in the neighborhood. Lay-led, with an inspiring, energetic rabbi. Calendar chock-full of events.

Visited for first time on Sat. Friendly, welcoming community. Loved Rabbi Greyber - very knowledgeable, fun, and caring.

Beth El synagogue has been opening their doors to us for our monthly food bank. We really appreciate them for opening up their doors to us.

By far the most welcoming and warm conservative synagogue in North Carolina with a very deep bench of lay leaders, biblical scholars from area universties, and an awesome Rabbi as well as Rabbi Emeritus, with a few retired Rabbis thrown in for good measure. They are currently undergoing a major building renovation with a high degree of grace and poise. They are assisted in this endeavor by Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham, just a few short blocks from the synagogue.

This ain’t a review but recently I converted to being Jewish and I want to know if there’s a way I can help y’all with stuff thanks!
