Bethany House was founded by Glenmary Missionaries in 1982.For the past 31 years we have served families in Carter, Elliott, Lewis, and Rowan county.
It is our desire to be an example with leading programs that change the lives of our clients, in order for them to become self-sustaining. We aim to create opportunities that will enable them to help lift their family out of poverty.
It is our mission to help families create achievable goals and support them by following through with those goals which can lead to life changing outlooks. Our goal is to not turn any person or family away that may need our help. We also act as a resource center for other services.
As you know a positive outlook can change the way we view the world and our current situation, without basic needs it is hard to realize ones dreams and goals. If we can make a difference in one family and help them see that all things are possible. Then, we can change the world one family at a time.
At Bethany House our mission is to create substantial, lasting resolutions to the economic, personal, and social problems within our service area. Our goal is the self-development of those people struggling with the oppressive environment of poverty and powerlessness. Our strategy is to design and implement effective grassroots programs that address these local needs as well as provide models for state and national development.
