Extremely good locksmith! Came and got us back into our apartment in less than 30 minutes! Would definitely use again
Here are the facts, with photos to back it up. - I called for a apartment lockout at 10:30 and was quoted $145. - The locksmith came, and destroyed my doorknob vs picking the lock. - He then pulled out his calculator app and multiplied 145 by 1.09. I asked, "why are you adding sales tax? Services aren't taxable." - He said "yes, we always do, I promise." It was late so I said fine whatever and let him run my card. - I then go inside and I learn that NO, I should not have been taxed. The law says, "except when the service is a necessary part of selling a NEW product, the service is not subject to sales tax." - What they are doing, adding 9% and calling is sales tax is the definition of consumer fraud and the felony theft of sales tax. - I tried calling them back from my same cell, and got sent to voicemail. - After no return call for 5 minutes I called from a different number; surprise, they answered. - The guy tried to say he didn't remember be, after having just screened my call. Not to mention as soon as he picked up I told him who I was and that we had just spoken 45 minutes ago. It wasn't until I assured him that I had an email receipt that he even acknowledged we had done business. So he tried to deny even providing service to me! Sorry to anyone who paid cash. Always get a receipt! - When confronted about sales tax not being applicable to services he said "that may be true but I told you it was $145 plus tax." So he admitted that they do add sales tax to a service. - I then said I don't care if you say the president is Micky Mouse, that doesn't make it true, justified or legal! - 10AM this morning I get a call back saying the locksmith is going to come to my apartment to run my creditcard to refund the difference. I said for defrauding me you should refund the entire thing, he declined but offered to take off the 9% fake sales tax. - When the locksmith came who does the actual charging I asked, "so do you add sales tax to every transaction?" He said, "No, just credit cards to cover our fees." So there you have it. This company is falsely collecting sales tax to pad their bottom line.
