EDIT: And they're closed! That's what happens when you're dishonest and treat people poorly.  You can smell the mold from the parking lot, which is too small for the facility. That smell only gets stronger inside.  Aside from the GM, the staff is pretty unfriendly.  Fellow gym patrons are reason enough to not go to this gym. Then again, look where it's located.  Shouldn't be surprised, I guess.  Watch out for the tall, Michael Phelps looking guy. He's rude and either dishonest or incompetent.  I went in to cancel my membership and he tried to get me to come back another time. I explained I was moving out of the state and had no time to come back. Somehow, he was able to help me after I explained my circumstances. If he was being honest initially,  I think he'd have stuck to the story. Fast forward 6 months later when I see a charge on my account from the gym.  Turns out my membership was frozen, not cancelled.  Explain to me why I'd ask for it to be frozen when I'm permanently moving 300 miles away. Clearly an error on their part that is now costing me money.  Go to Blink Fitness. It's cheaper and cleaner with nearly the same amenities.

Worst gym experience ever. I was a loyal member for years but needed to cancel for a season. I was told I couldn't cancel and would be billed anyway. Eventually had to cancel my credit card to avoid this place billing me. 6 months later and they're still calling and threatening to have this put in collections and on my credit. Go to Retro Fitness instead! They're much cheaper and have locations all over the island. Their gyms are cleaner and they don't try to scam their clients. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH BIG AL'S!!!!!

I actually canceled my membership yesterday due to personal issues of my own, but even saying that I must say that this was possibly the best gym experience I've had ever. The staff is always very friendly and the gym is very clean. Right now the membership price is $20 a month which is in line with other gyms in the area. Their smoothie bar is top notch, which is great when you need a little extra fuel for your workout. It wouldn't surprise me if I end up rejoining as it's worth the price. Part of me wishes I don't have to return, yet I'm kind of hoping to go back... I highly recommend this place to everyone and their physical trainers are amazing to get you back on track... just remember you don't need them forever, but they're a blessing to get you going.

I've been going here for about a year now so I feel I can give a fair assessment. First of all, the monthly membership prices can't be beat. Some of the equipment is dated but they are slowly working on renovating and replacing things, so I have no doubt it will be very nice in the future. I've used the personal training here and found the sessions to be great workouts. The group classes are the best, especially the morning ones boot camp, HIIT, insanity and yoga are my favorites. I think the classes alone have increased my fitness abilities. The staff is nothing but pleasant.

after being billed after closing my account i received a bill from net collections stating that i owe money. upon further investigation i was told that i couldn't cancel my gym membership unless i moved or got a doctors note and had to be on for life.  seeing as that im not the only one having problems with cancellation, i do not recommend this gym unless you wanna be billed after closing your account.

Big Al's Fitness is such a waste of space, time and money.  They are so dishonest, it still blows my mind.  I was injured in their gym through no fault of my own.  I was standing on a treadmill talking to a women when the machine turned on and threw me into the glass mirrors on the upper deck.  Four men who all saw what happened and I still have all the contact information helped me to the front desk.  I was having extreme difficulty breathing.  I chose to drive my car as I didn't want an ambulance to take to the NCMC. I had only used a few months 3-4 months of my membership and I had a ton of personal trainer per-paid sessions. They screwed me out of any refund, knowing I broke every single one of my ribs. I got nothing but phone calls recently asking me to renew my membership.  I would not ever go back to Sweat Fitness.  They only care about getting as much of your money as possible and then they are done!  From Mike on down, especially the female that runs the front desk, they are useless and lack integrity.  They are a bunch of dishonest swindlers! Consider your self warned, you would be nuts to go to Sweat fitness, save your money and your health!  laurafromli

An excellent, clean gym, well maintained with many choices and an over abundance of equipment for PT.  Very economical and entire family's use the facility, it has a nursery for the moms.  Working out is a pleasure and the staff is professional and helpful. Also, I like the sauna. I have nothing bad to say about my experience there and I've been there more than a year.

Terrible experience! Do not join! Lots of hidden charges, very difficult to get your money back. If you do join keep an eye on your back account. They will charge you for classes and personal training even if you dont sign up for them. Canceling a membership is nearly impossible because they have no corporate office or anyone mature to speak with. I spoke to them in person over a year ago about canceling my membership and they are still charging me monthly fess, I have to keep telling by bank its fraud. ***Terrible experience. Do not join. ***

This is the best gym ever.  I've had no billing or package issues as others have mentioned.  I never have an issue parking or find the facilities dirty. It's close to home and the price is completely worth the amenities.  The staff are friendly and encouraging.  You CANNOT BEAT the personal training dept!!

I have been a member of this gym for 4 years after i left planet fitness. let me tell you. This gym is one of the best and most underrated gym on long  island! Top notch equipment for the best workout anytime. The employees treat you with respect and not just a number like most other gyms. Everybody loves me and all the other members that workout here! Mike is a boss!! Working his fingers to the bone to deliver the best gym experience. Might i add.. the new employees are well molded gentlemen who i hope will be managers some day. Mastero is a chill guy! Dario and Vinny are solid dudes! The PT department is kinda lax since they fired Jason. I miss Jason! please bring him back. otherwise, i love the teamwork, family and friendship that this gym brings. when you enter the gym your greeted with a smile, a hello, a high five, things that we need right now in this world! I can't wait for the new cafe with the good eats food. Keep on lifting and work out with your Pals at Big Als!!
