Our server rarely stopped by the table. Didn't bother to refill our drinks. We felt rushed to finish our meal and leave. None of the staff were nice. As we left there was a gentleman who was waiting and told a waitress that he has been waiting for a long time. The waitress quickly responded with "well I didn't do that" in a snarky voice. Overall the whole restaurant was dirty and unfriendly.
Ive been eating at this location for years. Convenient location, food is standard for Big Boys chain. Building is showing age and needs revamping, this location needs complete facelift as outside shows runddown appearance. I found out it is a corporate store, and the management needs a budget increase to get repairs done. Otherwise the staff are friendly when not overworked.
The only good thing about my experience at the big boy on Sunday April 27 2014 was the waitress she was awesome. the place is disgustingly dirty. there is dust and fingerprints everywhere. The bathroom stunk and the floor was grossly dirty. They need to be turned into the health department....
We walked into Big Boy, and a very nice man with a shaved head greeted us. We were seated, and he took our drink orders. Then we met our waitress. I believe her name was Jen, that is what the receipt said, but she never offered her name. Either way, she had a blonde pony tail, blue eyes, and a purple shirt underneath of her black one. This lady did not want to take our order, you could just tell. Now I understand that I have a face piercing, and so do my friends. We're a little unconventional, but that is no reason to assume we won't tip well. I was raised to tip at least 25%, unless of course I receive the type of service that I received today. In short, it was appalling. She brought us our shakes, which were melted, and our drinks. She didn't hand us any straws, saying instead that she would be back with them. She then proceeded to take our order. Instead of writing it down, she assumed she could remember four different orders. Big mistake on her part. The only special things we ordered included an extra side of tartar, and extra crispy hash browns. After each order she paused to make a rude face, and on mine, I asked for a side of toast, to which she stared blankly and then snapped, "You know it doesn't come with toast right?" It was said with an attitude, I assure you. We then waited, without straws, for our food to come. When it finally did, every single order was screwed up. One person who is a vegetarian got meat on her plate, her toast was burnt, there were tiny silvery-blond hairs in the food, her hash browns were soggy instead of crispy, and the eggs were luke warm. The second person didn't receive her biscuits and gravy until we were done eating, see above for the eggs, the third also got grease-soaked soggy hash browns, and the same tiny hairs. I never received my side of tartar, and had the same problem with my hash browns. The waitress also got the toast wrong, bringing two wheat and one white instead of two white and one wheat. The slim jim buns were hard, and everything was altogether unsatisfying. We wanted to send it back, but literally everything was wrong. Not to mention, when we said something about the straws, the meat on the plate, and the biscuits & gravy, she waved it off with a very rude stare, and a hand motion. We were halfway through our meals when we finally got our straws, but not before she took other orders and poured everyone a round of coffee. We were happy to get the bill so we could just leave. She did try to turn it around, and smile when we were paying though, and we did tip, even though we really shouldn't have. On our way out we did see a really nice worker, I don't know his name, but I think he was either a bus boy or a cook, who complimented my friends clothes. So all in all, our service was horrible, the waitress was rude and I didn't even list everything she did, the food was disgusting, and I really wish we had been served by the man who seated us. Had she greeted us, and treated us the way she treated the rest of the customers, the food wouldn't have been that big of a deal. We could have had the problems fixed. We love Big Boy, but we wont be returning to the Walled Lake location. Whenever we've eaten there before, everything was perfect, that is why we are leaving this review. Hopefully, she will treat future patrons with a little more respect, I just know that we won't be those future patrons. There is a location on Haggerty, I believe, and even though it is quite a bit farther, we will be eating there in the future.
Worst service ever. We waited an hour for our food. They ran out of English muffins and used biscuits for my eggs Benedict with out asking. Then they told us they didn't have yogurt and we seen it being served after. They over charged me and wouldn't fix it. Never came out our table for refills or anything. The place wasn't even busy and had the worse service none of the girls working were polite. Never again will we eat there.
Paid cash for a gift card and even though the card was swiped and she played around with the machine hitting buttons, the card wasn't actually activated. Super embarrassing for the person I gave it to and me, the gift giver! Because I paid cash I didn't keep the receipt yes lesson learned, always keep the receipt. Not sure if it's a competence issue or an actual scam by management and staff....
This place is OLD and DIRTY. The service is mediocre, and the food is very poor quality, especially compared to other Big Boy locations. This place needs to be torn down and rebuilt. There were bugs flying everywhere and the dirt everywhere is just disgusting. AVOID THIS PLACE.
Food was decent, dirty location. A urinal was overflowing in the bathroom. Waiters were rude and unhelpful.
Found a black hair under my big boy sandwhich Soup and salad bar the soup had a film layer on it. Has a musty oder in the restaurant. I wont go back.
Really great food, very friendly staff. Building is showing its age, but that's the only thing I could find wrong.
