The food is always hot and fresh. Check through the salad bar first. When it has just been put out it is the best. Wait staff here is sometimes perfunctory but always polite. Front desk is nice. Seating by Wayne Road windows are my favorite because of the light as well as the foot and auto traffic for diversion.
Wow absolutely disgusting restaurant. I used to eat here a lot years ago. It has taken a turn for the worst. Uninterested host sat us amongst many dirty tables. There must have been at least 8. Floor was disgusting. There just mess everywhere on the floors, window ledges, it looks like no one cares. Proceeded to look at the menu for five minutes, no servers in sight. We left and went to the Garden City Big Boy which was amazingly clean and very friendly staff. Avoid this place.
It had been a while since we ate at Big Boy so we thought we would give it another try. We were seated quickly the only thing quick about our visit. After ordering our coffee and water, our server brought us plastic ! silverware. Come on, I'm not eating in a fast food restaurant. After waiting 35 minutes for our food, I inquired on how much longer it would be. The server said 2 managers just arrived and it shouldn't be much longer. I guess her idea of longer and mine, were two different things. I then asked the manager how much longer and she said the were working as fast as they could but we could walk out if we wanted. Well guess what? We walked right out! Not returning!!
Our server was fantastic. I believe her name was Julia. She was very good at letting us know what was going on although it took us a while to get our food because they had a new cook working there. the food was pretty darn good though. And the server was graded making sure we had everything we needed otherwise.
If I can give 0 stars I would. First off, the place wasn’t clean when we first walked in which put me off instantly. When I went to the bathroom, there was no soap and it reeked. Now if I couldn't wash my hands to eat, how exactly were the employees making the food washing theirs after using the restroom? When I went to get the breakfast buffet, the plates were dirty and I honestly didn't have an appetite to eat at that point so I just sat back down. The waffles were rock hard like the video below, the french toast was incredibly average and you guessed it, rock hard as well along with the eggs and hashbrowns. My brothers and sister ate, dad and I didn’t because of our lost appetite. The only good thing about this place was the service. First and last time we come here. Video below speaks for itself with regard to the quality of food served.
This Big Boy has gone down hill. We walked in and were seated quickly, which was nice. However, we were then forgotten about. Over twenty minutes went by and we still did not have our order taken. One girl sees me craning my neck around looking for a server, and comes over and takes the order. Then another twenty minutes go by before we see her again. Our food is apparently "almost ready." Well, twenty minutes after that, we still don't have our food. There were two of us and we had ordered potato pancakes and an omelette, so not a complicated order. Over an hour total passed before we threw down $3 for the drinks and left. As we were leaving someone from the kitchen shouts "I'm making it now!" Well, I thought it was supposedly "almost ready" thirty minutes prior to that. No, the restaurant wasn't busy. We saw four employees and there were about four tables with people in them.
BB has always had a reputation as an all American restaurant and to me that meant boring and everything is microwaved. Not true anymore! Great fresh selections, great breakfast for dinner selections, professional waitress and manager they were out of onion rings. Super clean floors, cleared tables, bathroom was in tip top shape.
The breakfast buffet wasn't restocked for the hour that we were there. I surely didn't get my money's worth. The two other family members meals were small in size. We decided to try you again after our last time there. But now? Who knows. The servers were decent.
Terrible experience. I don't know how they stay in business .I went for open buffet with my kids.let's start with restroom.it smelled very bad. Lost my appetite right there. No soap to wash hands.second , the buffet. I think the food been sitting there since 6 am.went around 11.30 Except for the empty egg pan everything else was cold,very hard and dry.coffee was ok. The only good thing was the service. Very bad experience.never again unless I bring a jackhammer to crack the French toast.
Terrible food!!! I will never eat here again. I drove 30 minutes to meet a long time friend who drove a great distance for some fudge Sunday ice cream cake. The cake was so old and hard I pulled the manager aside and explain the situation. The manager said sorry and said she would bring a new top half of the cake. When she brought out the cake on a piece of paper you could see that the cake white and drying out.
