Waiting a week for operators of lock 44 to show up to work... Great restaurant. Had an amazing breakfast. One selection fed two with leftovers. Marina is nice, gasoline, power on some slips, $75 pump out.. $50 if staying at the marina, no potable water. Marina is $2 per foot. Shower and toilet available. Small store and ice cream shop. Right next to lock 44
If you have a boat and have to moved your boat to the other side of white water falls lake take the big Chute. Beside the marinais a nice ice cream place. Also is a small restaurant and a convience store
This is our second time visiting here in ten years, and the experience is about the same. Traveling by boat, we stayed on the transient docks, which cost $1.95 per foot, per night. That fee includes for us twin 30 amp shore power connections and fresh water. There is a boaters' washroom and separate shower room. Both could best be described as 'rustic'. Not the highest in the quality scale, but I'm grateful that the shower is available for over night guests. There is an on-site restaurant that offers very basic seating, with pub grub menu items. Nothing that one would consider as overly healthy or sensitive to those who deal with food allergies. Not for us, but that's not why we come here. Pretty view of the water, and conveniently located immediately next to the Big Chute Marine Railway.
It's a very nice spot to visit. there is a park with benches. not far there is an ice cream shop people fish on the boat and by the shore too.
Big Chute Marina has a small restaurant on site. Their menu is basic, but everything that we had was delicious. It is a good offering, since there are no other restaurants around. They also serve breakfast. They have inside and outside seating. Their outdoor patio has a beautiful view of the water. Both of the servers we had, the one for dinner, and the one for breakfast, were friendly and efficient. We highly recommend the Big Chute beef sandwich. A hefty sandwich with beef that melts in your mouth and so juicy and tasty, served on nice bread and with au jus on the side
Cashier was standoffish when I paid the $17 to park for one night. Which is fine, some people are friendlier than others. So I proceeded to park my car and then as we were waiting for a friend to pick myself and 2 others up on the boat to head to the cottage, we took a seat at some of the muskoka chairs available. After a 3 hour drive, and with our coolers ready for the weekend we decided to enjoy a beer as we waited. Technically illegal, but we were not bothering anyone by doing so. Not long after that another staff member approached us, yelling and swearing at us telling us we could not do that. It is not the fact that they did not want us to drink on their property causing me to write this review. That I can understand, it is the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional. A simple conversation with us would have yielded the same result.
Amazing spot to get out and walk around a little. What an interesting method of transportation, something I have never seen before.
Forget the marina… the ship lift alone is worth the visit! Another “must see” location on your visit.
At big chute on Severn. Stopped for breakfast and gas. Restaurant excellent. At gas pumps I was served by someone who in a past life must have been a mall cop. Arms crossed. Dark shades. Chewed me out for not staying with my boat. Gas overflowed while he was filling it and made out it was my fault. Ruined what was a great morning on the water. Avoid.
We stayed for two nights at the big chute marina. Restaurant serves delicious meals. I would recommend them for meals
