The Big Wills Arts Council in partnership with Fort Payne City Schools has presented arts in education programming for k-12.An artist residency by Dana trained teaching artist, Russell Gulley,features "Intro: Folk Music, the Blues, and Tradition".

Mission

The primary focus of the BWAC is arts in education, in Fort Payne City Schools as well as the surrounding area.The BWAC also supports all disciplines of the arts, is dedicated to the coordination, promotion,and development of public arts programming, both traditional and contemporary, and presenting the arts as a worthwhile endeavor and encourages an ongoing participation therein.

The BWAC developes arts in education programnming for schools systems in the Fort Payne Alabama area, services the City of Fort Payne with technical assistance and support in cultural affairs and arts activities, such as the annual Boom Days Heritage Celebration, and seves as a arts presenting organization at local and area venues.The BWAC also serve as a documentation and preservation advocate for the contributions to the arts made by citizens of Fort Payne and DeKalb County, Alabama.
