History of Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park
Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park is a scenic 10-acre Park that sits between Cass and Jefferson streets along the river in downtown Joliet, Illinois. The park was created and built as a commemorative project for the Bicentennial of the United States of America. Once built, it was deeded to the City of Joliet. It is now Co-managed by the Will- Joliet Bicentennial Corporation ( the 501 (c) (3) organization that raises funds for the park) and the City of Joliet. It is the only park owned and operated in the City of Joliet that is not a Joliet Park District facility.
The Will-Joliet Bicentennial Park Inc.’s mission is to provide an inexpensive and highly accessible forum for the enjoyment of and participation in the performing and fine arts without regard to the race, religion, ability, or creed of the performers or audience and desires to continue to make the fine and performing arts available inexpensively to the community. The Board of Directors of the Will-Joliet Bicentennial Park, Inc. is desirous of providing a regular source of funds which can be utilized for the promotion of the fine and performing arts and the recognition of the diverse cultural heritage of the region.
Bicentennial Park provides a venue for a wide variety of events for the people of Joliet and Will County. We have an outdoor band shell and a viewing hill and surrounding area that can hold up to 5000 people as well as a 350 seat indoor theatre. Bicentennial Park is home to: Cultural Arts and music of all types, Children’s Drama Camps, Community Theatre Groups, and it is used as a general Community gathering place. Our camps are all inclusive with approximately 20% of our participants from the disabled population. We work with Special Recreation Joliet/Channahon and the Kiwanis Aktion Club on a regular basis. The plays and camps that we do enhance the quality of life of our community and build public speaking skills and confidence in all who participate. We have been serving the Will County area for the past 40 years with free Concerts on the Hill for the community every Thursday night in June, July and August.

What a nice little theater located in Bicentennial Park. The parking is free and plentiful. We were there to watch the kid's summer camp production of Anne of Green Gables. The musical was fantastic, the theater was very nice and seated approximately 300 people. We were able to purchase our tickets online and print them out. The seating was general and a bit chaotic when the doors first opened. During intermission, they offered drinks and snacks. The restrooms are convenient and offer handicap accessible stalls.
Now is a beautiful fountain that complement the park. Their is a big gazebo and a outdoors/indoors theater. For various events.
This park is right next to the river. For the most part it's pretty clean and well kept. Nice area for a walk. There's plenty of parking and another small park near by that kids can play in. It's not to busy of an area as of now cuz the bridge is still closed. I'll visit again.
I performed here in their auditorium, and it was a beautiful facility, spacious, family friendly. The hospitality of the crew there was phenomenal. Everyone was hospitable and gracious. I highly recommend you take advantage of any performances or events there.
If your homeless come live here. Apparently its the spot if you want to get day drunk without police saying anything. Once saw a guy walking with a bulletproof vest here. Lol seriously I did!
Great place, they have concerts and things here, it's a beautiful park. Great to sit outside or inside!! Picnic area: Can have a picnic by the water. Walk thru the park, or just sit on a bench!
Love it, beautiful! I love the colors of the trees and going along the trails with all the beautiful colors of the plants that are in the garden. We will see if they can make it to the mice in their shoes or not sure what they will be doing in the winter season. So many people have already seen the moon in their lives and they are not even in the same place as they were when they were in their first season of war. The schedule is not as good as it could be for the next two months but I am sure it will work out for a better rate of time to get my old one back from the other side of the driveway to the top of the hill and then I go for a ride and I get to the bottom and I see you again. Yeah yeah yeah. Do you don't you want me to get that wooden thing out of your head or just not yet but it doesn't sound like you are doing well in the middle of the night and you're not going anywhere else like that is a good idea for a unique theme for your wedding planning event in lieu of the actual ceremony. You can also make a great fit for your help in your search of art photography with the most beautiful and beautiful and beautiful colors in the middle of the dark water garden. This has been a very beautiful and beautiful place to be with beautiful and beautiful views and beautiful colors and beautiful colors. I love the way you make your smile.
Had a great time at pride fest. Thanks Blake Jurasich
Soon as they can do a better job with the fountain I will give 5 stars. I love walking around here and site seeing. It would be better with a sightful fountain to look at like the Buckingham fountain in Downtown Chicago. Looking forward to more amusement in this area during the summer.
They have a fantastic social distant setup. Different colored circles painted on the ground, depending on how large your party is. And these circles are separated 6 or 8 foot. Great plan. Tasty food and drinks. Great entertainment. Fun time for sure. Congrats to who manages these events.
