Tech support and staff are very nice but communication by the nursing staff leaves much to be desired. Poor communication and lack of notes in my file, relative to my first talk with a nurse, led to me being sent home twice since I had not done the proper blood testing to come back. Two trips and two hours of drive time wasted which could have easily been avoided had the nurse communicated next steps properly.
Approximately 15 years of donating at Biolife other locations and now Maple Grove. It used to take just over an hour from when I walked in the door until I walked out. It consistently takes close to or OVER two hours now. Long wait times to test vitals and even longer to get a bed. Over booked appointments, under-staffed and an outsourced employee scheduling system is sinking this place. I'm about done. The employees continually seem defeated and frustrated with what appears to be no managerial assistance or understanding. "Customer" service is seriously lacking. Low employee hours and many donations are their goal. So be ready and plan to spend hours each time you donate. It's just not worth the time anymore.
If I could give negative stars I would. I have never been so poorly treated by a nurse in my life! I am in healthcare and I would never treat someone the way the nurse did to me today. The tech staff were nice and very informative. After everything was situated and I was ready for my physical the nurse was annoyed that I was a new donor and there weren’t supposed to have any new donors today. She was very rude to me and typed on her computer and wasn’t very communicative or respectful. Asked me about medications and surgeries I have had which is fine and understandable but the way she asked and I felt accused of certain things when saying for the reasoning on medications. They were going to make me sign a medical release form and I did not feel comfortable giving all previous medical information that could be used against me. I do not have anything to hide, I would never do that or potentially lie to put someone in danger from my donation. All because Of a surgery and because I am on a medication for not having a thyroid. I was so disrespected by the nurse and since I wouldn’t sign the ROI form I’m on the do not donate list. I told them what surgeries I have had and what medication I’m on. I’m not going to give someone hypothyroidism from donating: I was doing this to help someone in need.
Clearly mentions bringing kids in the website, I have one son. Single momming is why I need the extra cash anyhow. I come drive almost an hour to get here to be turned away for having my son and they aren’t nice about it either, so I reschedule with someone to come with and watch him and they kicked us out for waiting in the waiting room for having my son there in a Room full go toys they offer and a changing table… I don’t have childcare at my disposal. Not only did I do over 2 hours of driving both times with zero compensation. Their communication was less than explained, but on top of it all they were incredibly rude and uninformative with rules they seem to make up as they go. No clear communication and absolutely zero empathy. It was apparent they don’t give two craps about the individuals. There are clear addicts donating for money but the single mom who can’t buy her son a Christmas present this year is turned away in a very unprofessional manner. Absurd. Found a different donation center that treats you like a human and not a number and allows me to bring my child and even offers him snack and juice while we wait. This place seems dirty and unattended people everywhere long waiting times with no order to the chaos.
Haven't even been there yet but based on these reviews don't think I'll bother. Signed up online only to be told at the end that they were having problems and to try again later. Why not say so initially?? I wouldn't have shared all my info....Weird. Too bad things are so terribly run there. If plasma is so badly needed and in short supply then GET WITH IT!! Until then guess I'll skip it. Have you all seen the ads for Trusting Heart in Edina?? Looks like they spoil you there. Alas, too far for me to drive. I haven't read THEIR reviews yet... OK, so half hour later read Trusting Heart Reviews. Like 12 of 15 5 stars. But looks like they do platelets which is great. Just takes longer...
Even with an appointment, the wait times are extremely long. Twice, they tested the sample of my blood and claimed my protein was under 6 even though they did explain that proteins can break down over time in the blood sample before it’s actually tested The protein levels they checked at time of donation were above 6, it was only the sample that tested low, probably because it wasn’t tested right away. Took 7-10 days for the results from my blood sample, and in the meantime they didn’t let me donate. Both times, a different plasma donation center tested me and said my protein was at 7.1, and my doctor tested it at 6.9 the next day AFTER the donation. Something doesn’t add up here. In the meantime, I’ll lose my ability to take advantage of their new donor promotion. So by the time I test high enough it won’t matter.
This is going to be redundant based off the last few reviews I just read. But maybe bio life will actually figure it out. This place is WAY too overbooked and WAY too understaffed. Taking advantage of people who need money with an economy that's being run into the ground by our current "leadership". There have been multiple occasions where I'm done donating and I've sat there waiting for over 20 minutes with a needle in my arm and NO ONE in my section waiting for a "floater". My last time here was Thursday September 29th. It took over an hour to get stuck after I walked in the door. And 40 minutes of that was me laying in bed waiting for someone to put a set on my machine, let alone get stuck. I've donated for over 20 years with biolife going back to my days in St. Cloud. This company has made major strides over the years, with technology and expansion of centers. But my gosh have they really dropped the ball with this maple grove store. Stop farming out your current staff to help other facilities get going and focus on getting new people to work and STAY here. Your turnover is horrendous. You don't pay is enough to deal with this b.s. Pay more, hire staff, and STOP OVER BOOKING!!! And don't get me started on how you ran this place during covid.
Maple Grove Biolife... they are terrible at running a business. It's complete unorganized chaos everytime I try to donate now. The employees run rogue, having their own personal conversations with eachotherunprofessional! Takes 2 hours for an appointment that used to take an hour or less for me. It should not take me 2 hours to be in and out when my actual plasma donation takes 30 min. Teach your team what a sense of urgency is when you're a profit making business! At least pretend that you enjoy your career when you're working, nobody smiles! Im embarrassed for the Maple Grove Biolife team. Get it together.
Oh boy where to start, they don't load your money on for 24 hours at the least, the app is garbage doesn't even except promo codes. And the weekly payments are garbage too, after your new donor bonus's you get 20$ for the first donation then 60$ for the next. This place sucks. Now they require you to make an appointment to donate and sadly there are only so many slots so if you don't make an appointment 3 days early all the slots will be taken. I hate donating here, will most likely go back to CSL plasma at least there you don't need an appointment to donate
I thought the wait time was getting bad, but the set up and discharge has gotten even worse. I used to be in and out the door in just a hair over an hour. Now it's just about 2 hours. They used to care about how long a person is waiting. It definitely doesn't seem like that anymore.
