Staff and general cleanliness and vibe were great and I have no complaints. I called ahead and was told there was no wait for my party size. I arrived within about 15 minutes and true to their word we were sat immediately. The food however was a 5/10 at best. Aside from the sweet potato fries the sides were just okay at best and bad at worst. The hush puppy I ate was probably the worst. Rick hard on the outside and way too chewy on the inside. I had an issue with my jaw for the next week after eating here, which is something I’ve never experienced before. The ribs were okay, the pulled pork decent, and the brisket completely dried out. I’ve seen other reviews complaining about how fatty the brisket is, so either there is no sense of consistency or my party received the result of a major overcorrection. Either way, it’s not the worst BBQ I’ve had in the area, that goes to pond pit, but it’s far from the best and I don’t foresee myself coming back here unless it’s something outside of my control.
Just stay away from the vinegar sauce. Other than that everything the wife and i had was FIRE. Good smoke day for sure. Brisket on point and ribs and pulled pork fire. Some of the best service ive ever had at a local spot. I heard they have new menu now too so the wife and i will be back for sureFood: 4/5
We went over on a Friday right after they opened for lunch. The place was already pretty busy. The inside is nothing fancy, but nice, but who are we kidding...you want to know about the food. I had the brisket sandwich, with slaw. The brisket came on two simply grilled pieces of white bread, as you would expect for traditional BBQ. The brisket needed no additional sauces as it just melts in your mouth. I paired that with the Texas Twinkies, which you need to just experience. The description wont do it justice. Its a bacon wrapped jalapeno stuffed with cheeses and meats and it was amazing. I will be going back there again and again.
Ate here Friday after work, about 3:45pm, there was no wait, but this place is definitely popular and began to fill up quick. Food came out in good time and our servers were kind and attentive. Pricing was on point. My husband and I enjoyed our platters! The only thing that wasn’t flavorful was the fried okra. Definitely give the brussel sprouts a try though, that bacon cream sauce they are bathed in was delicious More brisket wasn’t available until 5pm, but we had no problem waiting and it was sure worth it. We enjoyed our cocktails and beer as well. We’ll be back for sure.
Bartender/waiter was fun! Food came out quickly and was good. I recommend the pulled pork & ribs. Brisket was dry & overcooked and Mac & cheese needed more cheese Brussels sprouts were fantastic! Only disappointment was baked beans, over smoked and chemical taste. The homemade pickles/red onions were yum. And the “flight” of sauces to try was cool. Cute place with outdoor seating!
Authentic southern-style BBQ. Friendly service and the outdoor patio seating is lovely. Snag a table there and you can watch the boats go by in the canal. Try the pulled pork and the hush puppies. Don’t forget the Brussels sprouts they’re delicious.Food: 5/5
Our waitress was amazing and engaging. Well organized and food was served timely and delish. I ordered the waitresses recommendation. Loved the atmosphere and the Sweet Baby Jesus was a perfect pairing. First time and def not my last.Food: 5/5
First time trying this place Thursday, upon arriving we were told there was no wait but we’d be messaged when our table was ready. 15 minutes went by and I inquired about how much longer the wait was. Hostess said there’s no wait list but we ended up waiting 45 minutes and told me no people on the list means no wait. Very confusing. So we were seated finally, our waitress came over quickly and she was friendly and we placed our orders. We ordered Texas Twinkie’s, dirty brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese, and bacon pulled pork sandwich with hush puppies. The brisket was very fatty and I couldn’t eat half the meat due to that took pic for reference, the Mac n cheese was over cooked and pasta was very mushy. The hush puppies had no flavor and were pasty, the pulled pork was a little dry, the coleslaw was alright, the sauces were not good. One tasted like mayonnaise, one like vinegar, one overly sweet with peppercorn chunks, and their ASH sauce was ok. And unfortunately no cornbread was offered at all. Our 2 meals and 2 appetizer came to $46. I understand they’re brand new and still trying to work out the kinks. I’m happy to see them open in the area and we will definitely try them again in a few months in hopes they’ve improved. Parking: Parking is very limited. We had to park down the street.
If I could give it a 4.5 I would but google doesn’t let you. Everything was good except some things had a little too much “smoke flavor” which I think may have been from a little liquid smoke and they need to get some wings and cornbread on the menu. Other than that, all of the sauces were delicious but they could probably do without the Alabama white. The hot link was easily my favorite main entree and the people I was with chose the creamed corn as the favorite side. Also, the price is ridiculous in a good way especially if you get the three meat option. When you get the three meat option, essentially it breaks down to $5 apiece for each of the 3 sides and $5 apiece for each meat. REALLY good price. Definitely the best food I’ve had out of the 3 mini trips I’ve taken to the Syracuse area. Vegetarian options: They have a cauliflower “steak” which is grilled and smoked cauliflower. My gf said it could use more flavor. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and high chairs are available
BBQ DONE RIGHT! Excellent atmosphere, great service, and delicious barbecue! We tried Angry Smokehouse on a date night. We had to wait about an hour and a half but spent the time having drinks on the deck outside. The restaurant is small with limited seating, so the wait was expected. The service was great for how busy the staff was. The bartender and server Bailey were fantastic. The BBQ hit the spot. We will definitely be back. Nice to have a choice in bville - garlic or smokehouse.
