Modern looking casino, very busy on weekends. Unfortunately during our check-in our room was having some type of maintenance issue so the only option we had was to opt for a discounted smoking room. The second night we were able to get into a non-smoking room which was much more pleasant.Rooms: 3/5
This place is clean and non smoking, even in the casino part. The TVs seem small but the reservation desk said in the next few weeks they are getting new ones. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Monday evening, no food available because not enough staff. They currently only do a sea food buffet on Thursday. Will definitely stay again!
I had a ball. It closes at 2am . But that was good because I left with my winnings. And then came back to the same machine later the next afternoon and hit for $960.00 on the same machine. It's a great place, it's only a 3 because I live in the cities and it was a nice little ride from here to there. But I will be back on a free weekend.
We had the Sunday dinner buffet and it was very good. It took a long time to be seated and we were at the front of the line. I don't think they had enough help ..but the food was very good and the desserts were excellent. The carrot cake was amazing. Worth the price for dinner.Rooms: 4/5
We had high expectations but we're sadly disappointed. We thought check in was 4pm but room wasn't ready. Told us it would hopefully be ready by 6. After a long day of travel that was not good. We came back after 6 and room was ready. Had a king smoking room. Room was spacious but no frig or microwave. Ice machines only on odd number floors so of course we were on even floor. Very inconvenient. Room was ok. Nothing.special. I feel it was overpriced for not having amenities in room. We did get a 10% discount for signing up for players club. Casino itself is nice but small. We don't live close so doubt we will ever go back.
The room price was cheapest in Carlton, for a reason. Pros- Casino was nice easy to navigate. The Staff I encountered were very nice. Con- the room was extremelybasic. A bed, a TV, and a bathroom. It's been a long time since I've stayed in a room without fridge. Would have been fine if there was an actual ice machine on my floor or if it was labeled which floor it was on. Tiny TV, stained sheets. Rooms: Basic no fridge no ice machine and stained sheets
We enjoyed our visit to Black Bear Casino Resort. The casino itself has a good variety of games and machines. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. They have a few dining options, which was nice. The rooms could use a little updating, if anything just normal wear and tear. It smelled smokey in the hallway, which permeated into the room, despite it being a non-smoking place, but i would put the blame for that on other guests, not the hotel. We would return! A good deal on a nice room!
The food exceeded our expectations, particularly the prime ribs at the carving station, which were absolutely fantastic! The highlight of the dining experience was definitely the carving station; it was truly exceptional. However, we were disappointed with the limited variety of options compared to previous visits. The seafood selection was particularly lacking, as there was only one type of fish available. Furthermore, the seafood dishes quickly ran out and unfortunately, they were not replenished. Instead, they were replaced with vegetables, which was not what we were hoping for. On a brighter note, the dessert selection was outstanding! The cakes had a delightful mild sweetness, and we thoroughly enjoyed their delectable flavors. The staff members were a standout in their exceptional service. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable.
Slots were tighter than I have seen in a long time. The buffet was horrible. Stale food for example a crunchy hollow breaded raisin?? Scallop, mushy or mealy shrimp. Staff was killing it but the food.... Husband got home and spent the night with horrible intestinal cramps and explosive diarrhea undercooked fish that when he took a bite said shoot, I am going to regret that, and he did Also, not Cannabis friendly. I was told 3 totally different answers by three levels of employee by a manager that because this is a sovereign nation MN laws don't apply true and did they the lawmakers who passed the legalization laws even vote yet where you can legally? But hey, the tribe is opening a dispensary. Hmmm so what you're saying is I will be able to buy but not smoke? Bad all the way around, except for the staff. Given the bad conditions they were working under every one was helpful, smiley and kind. Food & drinks: Just don't
We didn't stay overnight here so I don't have any information on the hotel/resort part. Very nice casino, small, but nice. Lots of games to play and they weren't busy so that was nice. Very nice to see some workers still wiping down machines after someone used them. Food & drinks: We ate at the Seven Fires Steakhouse, the hostess was a bit snarky when we first went in, saying to another server that we didn't have reservations. There was only 2 other tables with customers. Anyway, getting a table was like applying for a card, they wanted full name and phone number. Our waitress was very nice and the food was great. There was only one self-serve drink station and I had to ask someone if they had one because its in a hidden spot.
