About
Black Crow Bakery is the revitalization of a family business. We bake breads much as Mark's Greek grandfather did: freshly milled flour, slow-rising natural starters, & a wood-burning brick oven.

I am so fortunate to live 1/2 mile from this rustic artisanal bakery. Simply, the finest bread I have ever eaten. All of the rustic breads, cookies and pastries are baked in a wood fired brick oven...to perfection. Every day there are different selections of breads and sweets offered on the Honor System!!! If you are in the Litchfield Maine area, Black Crow Bakery is NOT to be missed.
Just moved back to the states from France. As a newbie to Maine, this was a real treat!! It was about 4:30pm and already dark outside. We walked into a dark doorway next to an 'Open' sign. Then to the right, above some steps, see another door with a soft light coming through it with a sign saying "come on in" or something like that.. Arrive to a wonderful smell of bread and a wood-fired oven. But nobody there... We wait for 3 or so minutes.. I knock on another door in the room connected to the house.. Nobody answers.. Then I try calling... goes to voicemail.. then I go outside and ask the fellows working outside "Where do I go to get the bread as nobody is there?" He starts to show me where to go, explaining, "here, you choose what you want and drop cash in the box, there is change in there if you need it"..I replied, "oh ok, I saw the tin and I know where to go, so thank you, have a nice evening" he wished me the same and I went back into the shop. We didn't know which bread to get as they all looked amazing, we picked up the 'Tuscan' loaf for $4.00. It's a great bread, warm to touch, crispy exterior with a nice chew.. Super excited to find this bakery!! Def the only place we'll be buying our bread from!! In France, you'll find old villages with a stone oven open to the public. They're not in use anymore but were there for locals to bake their own foods!! And of course, many villagers baked their breads in them. Always wondered what that bread would taste like.. Now I know and I love it! Thank you other google reviewers for your reviews, without them, I wouldn't have discovered this place! Very happy NEW customer! Thank you Black Crow Bakery! Looking forward to trying all of your breads!
Don't be intimidated by the "curbside appeal." This place is well worth the stop, everything is delicious and wood fired-yum !!!
I wish I could give them 100 stars. When you walk in, it's easy to wonder what century you're in in a good way. They definitely live up to their rustic roots. The bread is some of the best I've ever had. They also had some kind of sourdough cinnamon pastry unlike anything I've ever had before. It was so chewy and sweet and is easily my favorite new treat. This place is a destination if you're into bakeries. Make the trip and you won't be disappointed. Bring cash.
Great Bread. It's a quaint little old fashioned brick oven bakery. It's not the cleanest place but the bread is fresh and sells out quickly. The prices are about 6 to 8 a loaf. The little pastries they have should be criminal to sell they are so good. Definitely worth the stop and experience and if you live here Definitely make it your regular bread stop.
Neat authentic bakery. It doesn't get any homier than this for a bakery. The bread is real good too!! It wasn't Saturday so I didn't have the pastries. Wood fired bakery.
Best bread, perhaps in the State, available for sake. Seriously, can not say enough about black crow. My favorite since the 90's
Mark and Tinker have been making the best bread in Maine for decades.
Awesome bread & pastry. They use an old school honor system so bring cash & check ahead of time to make sure it's open. Def worth the trip!
One of the unique places in area. Wide variety of classic breads. Have sampled all of them and they are all my favorites. Their traditional brick oven is a classic. The large chocolate chunk cookies are addictive. Breakfast pastries are great.
