Black Stag Cafe

My first visit to Black Stag was delightful! I’ve been anxiously following their Instagram, awaiting their opening. Only their 3rd day out, the owner, Gustavo, greeted me and was making pleasant conversation in Spanish with a woman who was waiting for her coffee. As a native Spanish speaker and San Diego native, what a bonus! The personal connections he made with myself and others coming in was what was so welcoming about this cafe. It’s trendy, aesthetically pleasing, and their coffee is delicious sourced from Coava! I ordered a honey latte made with almond milk, and really appreciated the non-dairy options they had clearly thought through. The only bummer is that they don’t have ice yet, and their hours are a bit tricky- I posted them for reference! Still, what a promising start to a great new coffee shop in town!

So far the best coffee I tasted in California. The barista knows coffee stuff, a friendly passionate one. Single O blend today. Great!

I don’t love coffee. I don’t really even like it. Sometimes I need it to fully wake myself. When I need it there is no espresso better than Black Stag. I drive 10 minutes to get it. Thankfully. Call me entitled but I stress knowing the best tasting anything is 20- 30 minutes from me. The owners get me. I’m there for a reason. Help myself keep going. They put a smile on my face 2x. First the product. Then the service. I challenge you to find a better tasting smooth no after taste exhilarating espresso Anywhere in San Diego. I’ve been to at least 10 different craft coffee shops. I’ve been here numerous times over almost a year. Consistently good. Feels good to have that box finally checked. Left my credit card accidentally and they held it for me. Great folks. Lifetime customer.

What a great coffee shop! I love the atmosphere and aesthetic. The couple who own the shop are both very nice and they make an absolutely DELICIOUS dirty chai! The other drinks are of course very tasty as well. I make a point of coming here frequently, love to support local businesses.

Firstly, THIS PLACE HAS FAST WIFI!!! I went in for a small group meeting because all the other places were too loud. Little did I know how amazing the coffee was going to be. I ordered a latte and had one of the best I’ve ever had. The seating area was well put together. The designs inside are Snapchat worthy, all my friends wanna know where that was. The owner is a very nice guy. Highly recommend over these corporate coffee spots who treat you like you’re any other customer.

I love this coffee shop!!!! The shop is beautiful and the owners are not only some of the nicest people I have ever met but they also know their coffee! I ordered the Mexican Mocha coffee and it was fantastic!!! I can say this is my new favorite coffee shop. Please stop by if you love great coffee with amazing customer service!!

I drink coffee regularly and appreciate an atmosphere that promotes quality, a community feel and customer service. Black Stag Coffee offers this, and then some. Gus & Irma are both superb professionals and delightful company. Love the cold brews and especially the Vietnamese Coffee.

One of my favorite coffee shops on this side of town. I also enjoy Scrimshaw because of their seating. The day I went it was a bit warm and seating is not very condusive for computer use or studying. Better for enjoying the morning or visiting with friends. Wife thoroughly enjoyed the tea and the coffee I had was also flavorful with fruity tones. Check it out

Great coffee, the decor is simple yet beautiful, and the barista is such a nice guy.

My first time here was very wonderful. I was a little skeptical because it is a new place in town but I do not regret giving them a try. I came in not knowing what I was in the mood for. Irma was very patient and friendly and knew what was just right for me. I tried their mexican mocha and my was it delicious. I was indeed please because it sweetness was not overbearing, it was just right! I am a mocha fan and this is different from other mochas, so I will come again for sure and I highly recommend this place to everyone, you won't be disappointed!!!
