Lots of fun terrain and well-groomed trails. Base lodge is spacious and clean. Old-school double chairs help to reduce the number of skiers on the runs at any given time, but no lift lines on the day we were there Saturday. No cafeteria, but bar and restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. Our favorite ski hill in the area.
Just found out that we have to cancel our yearly trip and hopefully reschedule into a different area because of new ownership at this location refusing to cooperate and allow snowmobile trail access. Further, they’re quoted as saying the don’t believe that snowmobiling is a family sport. Ironic that my family and I are ones impacted by their selfishness. The U.P. Is full of small businesses that have to work together in order to maintain a suitable economy for tourism. Clearly this owner not only doesn’t care, but believes their business is exempt to that cooperation. You’re not only hurting your business, here, but several communities. Snowmobiling, whether you like them or not, is a major economic contributor in your region during several months of the year.
We love to come up to the beautiful north woods! We usually come up to ski a few day and snowmobiles few days, two of our favorite activities… this resort was on the list for us to ski at this year… once we heard they do not support snowmobiling they were instantly taken off the list for this year. We were few disappointed to here the news.
I’ve been going here for 18 years. Ever since I can remember. With the local deal my price was always around 40$ or so for rentals. Now with the new ownership I paid 120$ for a day of skiing. Absolutely sickening and ridiculous. It’s now a joke and I’ll sadly find another ski resort.
Great weekend ski get away. Usually plenty of fresh, real snow with 110"/year average. Bar entertainment for apris ski social time with lots of space for guests. We've also had meals catered here for large groups.
This company promotes snow-related sports and just cut the main East-West Snowmobile Trail #2. Do not spend a dime there as these people are going to destroy local tourism in Gogebic County. Skiers spend far less money then winter motorsport enthusiasts.
My wife and I had a great weekend at Big Snow Resorts. They have a great staff both at the resort and the ski summit. I had a two hour lesson and my instructor did an awesome job of getting me up on skis and teaching me the basics. Taking the shuttle over the Blackjack is a real bonus, two Mountains for the price of one!
Blackjack ski mountain has always been a family favorite! We have been coming up for nearly 40 years. Friendly staff, fun terrain. Always plenty of snow in the U.P.!! - Adam Redman
Terrible new ownership just closed a long standing snowmobile trail I should say a main trail, shows they don't care about their neighbors there who make money from the sledders only caring about filling their own pockets. Everyone should stay clear of this place if they don't want to work with others.
Horrible new ownership who doesn’t care about the local economy. They shut down a snowmobile trail that will negatively affect the west side of the UP. PLEASE do. It give this black your business.
