Beautiful building, respectful, hard working people, professionally dressed in robes, suits, tyes, uniforms etc in the heat. It was a little bit warm. The air conditioning was out or I'd give 5 stars.
Man jury duty is crazy in downtown Austin the worst idea ever they need to move this facility as far from downtown as possible so the people can get in and out of jury duty easier
I didn't have a good time while I was there, but the building is at least fairly nice
Jury duty! Very friendly officers. Stephanie helped me figure out where I needed to be and was very kind. Nice experience overall.
Parking is an absolute nightmare. Even if you were there just for jury duty or to update some paperwork. The building is still under construction. The cross between the criminal building and the Civil building is not working. You have to go outside. Sheriff's Department staff is very helpful. Court rooms are clean. Court staff is very helpful at getting and explaining the correct place to go. Do not recommend unless you must go down town. Try the office over off of Airport Boulevard. The new Criminal Court Building is nice and it needed it. That, or complete renovation. Next door on the Civil side, is still the same. The parking garage closest to the courthouse is for County employees only. Parking on the street is literally impossible even with a handicap sticker. In the one other parking garage, it was expensive and a walk to the courthouse.
If you meed to attend there it is easy to find. I did not find parking to be a problem. It is secure in all the right ways, and a beautful building. If you happen to be there for an extended period of time you have food/drink lite fare to hold you over
Despite the fact that this place has such a negative vibe-the building is clean and the officers in the front keep the line moving, and staff is nice for the most part. Although the on-going onstruction outside is a bit of an eyesore, the cookies that are sold on the concession inside towards the back are the best I ever had in my life!! So yes, cookies cancel out construction.
It's a courthouse... How do you really rate that? It's under reconstruction, so I hope they are addressing the bottleneck that happens when a bunch of potential jurors show up for duty. There was only 1 security line/entrance, so that was the first slow down. Then the elevators were packed and had a line. If you have to be in court at a specific time, make sure you give yourself extra time. Parking is also a major issue. Not many options for parking and they're often very costly. If you can, take public transportation or a driving/ride share service.
Parking is a pain but if there for jury duty the judges will take care of any parking tickets. Might as well not even pay at all at meters. Security check was pretty quick, and the TCS officers are actually pretty friendly. The wait for the elevators is the longest wait if all, take the stairs if you have time.
A public works nightmare. Poorly conceived, poorly designed, poorly constructed. November 2022 update: I hadn't been here since before the pandemic, and a whole lot of renovation has taken place. "Why" is anybody's guess because the new criminal courts building will be opening very soon. Typical.
