As a Christian midwife, I believe that God's way is the best way. He is the creator of life and makes no mistakes about family. His plan for pregnancy and birth is, in short perfect, we cannot improve upon it. I feel my job is to protect the natural process of birth. It is my privilege to serve God by serving birthing couples on their journey to becoming a family. I believe that he is the deliverer and I am to serve to the best of my ability.
I believe the birthing family should have the right to choose where and with whom they birth. The parents to be should be able to make informed choices concerning their pregnancy, labor and birth. Many choices are available in our area and I believe that each couple should be able to choose the type of care they would like and where the baby is to be born.
I believe that fathers are very important to the birthing process. I respect him as the head of his home and covet his prayers. I look to fathers to provide covering for his wife and his home. I believe he is able to help his wife when making any decision concerning her healthcare. It is an awesome responsibility and great privilege to be the first one to lay hands on a newborn baby. Each birth is unique and a miracle and I believe that each baby should be welcomed into the family of God with love, prayer and thanksgiving. I also believe in the power of prayer and make it my daily habit.
