I just purchased a prepaid funeral to make things easier on my family when the need arises. You have to keep in mind that you’re dealing with people who by their own admission survive by exploiting families in a crises situation. They justify it by telling themselves people had a chance to plan ahead, so they’re fair game for charging higher prices if it’s an “at-need” situation. These people are not your friends, and many of them are a little shady, you would do well to think about that. I’m not sure if you could do any better by finding a funeral home that was not owned by “Dignity” corporate, but I recommend trying. At one point, I was asked to leave the planning session and go to an ATM because they could not accept card or check for a “filing fee”. It was just $20.00, but imagine having to get back in your car and drive two miles to an ATM for $20 to complete the paperwork for a funeral. Where I come from, that’s just not acceptable. Someone buying a $7,500 product from me that I don’t even have to provide today, I would never ask them to leave and go get me cash from an ATM. Plan your funeral? Absolutely. Lock in the rising costs asap. Dignity? Avoid if at possible.

I just want to recognize the staff for making sure flowers are placed every three months on my grandparents grave. I stopped this evening traveling for work from Ohio, and was touched by the beautiful flowers. A small price to honor the support they gave me growing up. 40 years later, I remember!

If they have their money , and no one’s in the morgue, their understanding and compassion is less than enough. My father left all of his belongings and personal property to me in his will. Even though I had his will in hand and an affidavit stating this - it was not adequate for changing ownership. They required that the crypt number be mentioned in his will. While this isn’t a huge deal - it wasn’t mentioned when I called to ask how to proceed - and they didn’t seem to care that I’d made a 2 1/2 hour trip and was unable to conclude my business. I just felt they were uncaring

If your services are prepaid expect to spend yet an additional three hours in the salesman office and ensure everything you paid for is included - if not then demand your refund at that point. If you are a veteran they charge you an additional 450 dollars for the granite mount for the plaque they conveniently forgot to mention during the sales slide show you endure while planning.

We were treated with kindness and professionalism during our interaction with staff at blue ridge. We highly recommend them to friends and family for the necessary time of planning the burial of a loved one.

My grandmother picked out her spot many years ago, and passed away before I was born. Being here to pay my respects to my grandparents, I see why she picked here, so peaceful and beautiful.
