Haven't had a truly bad restaurant experience in VT so far this year but then we got around to ordering from Bluebird. We were excited to try a number of items. We ordered the cornbread muffins, the basket of fries, pulled pork sandwich, pork spare ribs with mac and cheese and baked beans, and lastly we got the smoked mushroom and seitan with the braised greens and charred broccoli. The french fries, the seitan, the pulled pork were the highlights of what we ordered although the mushroom seitan dish had very small portions. The rack of ribs was just 6 smaller ribs even though it was 32 dollars. This takes me to the worst part about the experience. Our friend told us to order takeout as dining at the restaurant takes a long time to wait for the food. We ordered online and waited 30 minutes and arrived 10 minutes early to the restaurant for the 6:45 estimated pick up. We didn't have the food in the car until 7:30. I tend to be a patient person but that was really disappointing. The worst part is it was clear 1 item must've taken longer because all of the food was cold. And we live 5 minutes away in Burlington. Won't be dining here again in the future. Vegetarian options: 1 or 2 vegetarian options. Unfortunately comes in smaller portions than the other items on the menu.
Great little venue for a BBQ joint! The food was outstanding! The burnt ends were my favorite but everything tasted great and will stick to your ribs! Ask for Lauren if you go! She was an incredibly friendly and attentive waitress!Food: 5/5
Mixed feelings on my experience. I was very excited to try based on the reviews. Started off our meal with the muffins and buffalo wings which were amazing. The honey butter was a great touch and the wings were packed with flavor and crispy. For entrees we had the half rack of ribs slaw and Mac for sides and the smoked mushroom hoagie. The ribs were unfortunately very dry and the sides both lacked seasoning. The Mac and a cheese could’ve been a bit more creamy as it also was very dry at the top. Adding some of the sauce helped the ribs but it still wasn’t up to par with other bbq restaurants that I’ve recently visited.
I really enjoyed the BBQ for two! I went for the first time recently with my partner and we got the brisket, pulled pork, and spare ribs for the meats. They all were very good, and the maple BBQ sauce provided made them all taste even better! For the sides we got charred broccoli, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes. I really liked the potatoes and broccoli, the lemon juice on the broccoli worked very well and the charring was very satisfying on it, but my partner and I were both not fans of the mac and cheese or the cole slaw. The cheese on the mac was too sticky for our taste, it kind of stuck in the back of your throat and the taste of it was not something that either of us were fans on. The atmosphere of the place was very nice though! We sat in the closed terrace area and enjoyed watching the river. I definitely would like to come back to this place and try out some of their other sides.
Fabulous Restaurant! I was VERY impressed with the food. We got The Family Reunion, 6 adults ALL of the meats were great! Ribs, brisket and pulled pork were the favorites! Had plenty left over. And also very impressed with how clean and new the restaurant was! Waitress was very helpful with what to get and she was spot on! Very attentive and made sure we got drinks etc, as needed.
Very nice greeting at the door, friendly server and very tasty food. Ribs, Mac and cheese and mash were our favourite, mushrooms were also an interesting discovery. Looking forward to our next visit, to try the balance of the menu.Recommended dishesMac and Cheese
I was really rooting for this place, since it’s hard to find bbq spots with vegetarian options other than sides. We got the cornbread muffins and buffalo wings as appetizers. The muffins were good and came with a delicious honey butter. The sauce on the wings was great, classic buffalo spicy. My partner said the wings were juicy and cooked well. For our mains, we got the mushroom and seitan hoagie with burnt ends broccoli, and a half rack of ribs with sides of Mac n cheese and slaw. We were both disappointed. The filling of the hoagie was bland and mostly seitan. The broccoli had no flavor at all, not even a hint of salt. The Mac n cheese was dry and my partner said the ribs were dry as well. We sat at the bar as walk ins right when they opened. The service was good enough, but unfortunately due to the quality of the food I don’t anticipate coming back.
I don't know what Guy was talking about. This place is terrible. Just kidding, it's pretty damn good. The pitmaster dry rub wings were crispy, good smokey flavor, juicy and tender. Not too crazy about the alabama white sauce. If my stomach wasn't about to explode, I would have also had the pitmaster ramen. The service was excellent.Food: 5/5

The service and food were excellent at Bluebird Barbeque! My husband is a born and raised North Carolinian, and I lived in North Carolina for 8 years, so when I say this is the best pulled pork we've had in many years, that is some very high praise. We ordered the barbeque for two, which was $45 and included your choice of three meats and four sides. We got the brisket, spare rib, and pulled pork and all the meats were so tasty. Of those three, the spare rib and pulled pork were the best. The spare rib just fell off the bone and the pulled pork was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, so you didn't need or want to add any BBQ sauce! We selected the Mac 'n' cheese, greens, beans, and toast and they were all super tasty. The greens and beans were awesome, both loaded with flavor. The beans were a bit on the sweeter side, thanks to the maple syrup addition. The homemade pickles served on the side were also excellent. Needless to say, next time we are in Burlington we will definitely eat here again! Kid-friendliness: Several families were there and kids were playing on the floor, and the staff seemed totally cool with it! Parking: Lots of parking on both sides of the building,
