Currently employs 111 full time firefighters, 10 administrative personnel, 5 maintenance personnel, and 5 fire prevention personnel.
The County of Beaufort, in the great state of South Carolina, created the Bluffton Township Fire District by Ordinance 78-6, adopted June 26, 1978. The Fire District was created comprising all properties in Beaufort County south of the Broad River, with the exception of Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island, and Jenkins Island. The Ordinance was amended on June 27, 1994 to include Jenkins Island.
Since its formation, The Bluffton Township Fire District has worked to provide customers with a reliable and affordable fire and rescue service. Although a lot has changed over the past few decades, our strong commitment to our customers and the community remains the same. The primary mission of the Bluffton Township Fire District is to plan, evaluate, and implement a range of programs designed to protect lives and property of the inhabitants and visitors of the Bluffton Township Fire District from the adverse effects of fires, life threatening medical emergencies or dangerous conditions created by either man or nature.
