I was in crisis trying to get my girlfriends things from BocaCoveDetox and the Boca Raton Police Services treated me with dignity, respect, and advocated for us when we were too afraid to advocate for ourselves. I am from Ohio and was threatened with the Boca Raton Police even though I didn’t commit a crime. So, I called them. Officer Bennett and Officer Ortanello I’m sorry if I misspelled his name arbitrated the release of my girlfriends belongings with impressive and impartial service. They both exhibited patience and responded quickly when dispatched and the records and dispatch department techs were understanding and professional. It made us feel safe and understood in a terrible situation far from home. Thank you, Boca Raton Police Services Department! You truly Protect and Serve!
A huge shout out to the Boca Raton Police Department. Contacted them regarding a lost iPhone, and they were there when needed. My overall experience with them was truly amazing. Keep up the great work!! Andrew Closson Boca Raton, Florida
My mom was pulled over coming home from her night job. The lady officer informed her that her license was suspended due to not having insurance. My mom informed her that she in fact does and provided a copy of it to her and they STILL gave her a citation, took her license, and her tag. I called the FLHSMV and her license is IN FACT valid and she is legal to drive their words not mine. Now she has to find time between working to go and retrieve her license and tag back when it was never suspended in the first place. Mind you she did not receive any notices from the DMVwhich last time I checked they are sent out AND she called her insurance company to double check which they verified that she was insured at the time of this ridiculous incident.
Updating my review now, January 2020, to comment on the reply they posted recently to my negative review of 4 months ago. Their "reply" appears quite insincere and doesnt even offer a name or phone number for someone to address the problem. This is perfectly consistent with my comment. They don't seem to care. -------- Original Comment: I'm almost embarrassed to say this but the Boca Raton police department has some real problems with attitude, driving skills, manners, and customer service. Here are a couple of examples.. The officers who respond to incidents typically treat the victimes rudely, in my experience. I have noticed this on numerous occasions both concerning myself and other people I've observed. Secondly, many of the police cars do not use their turn signals, they speed and change lanes wildly for no reason, and do not obey traffic laws. I cannot explain the reason for this, it doesn't seem to make any sense whatsoever. But in my personal experience I documented the incidents and called the supervisor of 2 different officers who had been driving in a bad manner and showing poor examples. In those cases my call was not treated very kindly and the responses from the supervisor were short and rude. This is my experience, and it's the only police department I've ever had this experience with in my 60 years. I am sorry to say that I'm a resident and taxpayer of this fine city and I can say so many good things about the city but the police department is sadly not one of them.
The young officer unfortunately don’t know his name, only the number 845 on my ticket was very polite, respectful and helpful today. The lady on a dispatch was also professionally nice and polite. Thank you for your service!
I had someone trying to break in to my apartment. He knocked once and came back 10 minutes later. Beat the hell out of my door. We called Boca PD and they arrived with attitude. I saw the man through the peephole, and described his appearance to the police. 10 minutes after they left, the trespasser comes back and kicks the door hard. I had barricaded my door as it was 12:30am and I was tired. My wife was so scared. The police came back and gave me a lecture about how "knocking on doors isn't a crime" and that next time I should open the door and talk to the man harassing me and trying to break the door down. Seriously? IQ levels are so low, they shouldn't have a sidearm. Its very scary to think these officers might have to respond to armed robberies or something more violent than my situation. I am very disappointed by their lack of empathy and manners. They look at me and my wife like we made the whole thing up from the beginning. They refused to file a report, even though I asked twice. I need a report in order to ask my property manager to access the cctv security cameras. But these officers insisted that I was being silly, asking me "are you sure the man wasn't just lost at midnight?" and "Are you sure you heard what you heard and actually saw him?" We live in a FOB key access apartment complex that is very secure. So secure the officers weren't able to get in without another resident helping. I hope I never need the police again, because they might just make it worse. I will be visiting the station to complain and get the report. Ridiculous.
Had a rude female officer show up to my door over a noise complaint. I informed her that it was my maintenance guy unclogging my toilet early in the morning. She threatened me by saying I don’t want to have to come back. This police department treats honest everyday citizens like they’re criminals. They have poor communication skills and escalate situations so it can lead to an arrest. They’re pathetic halfwits and are the precise reason why people hate the police. I actually want to be a cop but would feel working for this bought out corporate interest of a department would hinder my honest purpose to do good in the community.
They have a very honorable and very beautiful memorial honoring the fallen Law enforcement officers
Following the tragic Mosque shootings in New Zealand, a member of our mosque contacted Boca PD to request that they send out an officer to provide some extra comfort and security for our local Muslim community during Friday prayer that same day. The operator informed the caller that Boca PD prior to any requests has already assigned several officers to patrol the area of 4th Avenue between the two local mosques - ICBR and Assalam Center. The caller asked if it would be possible to have an officer assigned to the parking lots specifically and the operator said they would try their best to have one assigned. Sure enough, upon arriving to Assalam Center for Friday prayer, I was overwhelmed with comfort to see there was an officer supervising our Mosque. During a day of overwhelming sadness and fear, Boca PD - on their own, prior to any request - provided overwhelming comfort and security to the local Muslim community. A huge thank you to our brothers and sisters in blue!!
I’ve dealt with amazing officers and really crappy officers from Boca but you can’t expect them all to be amazing, I do believe they try with the community like coffee with a cop but I still feel adversely affected by one of their officers who handled my sisters car accident poorly. P.S. Officer Reesie is one of the best I’ve dealt with from the Boca PD.
