Bode & Bode was founded in the year 1911 by two sisters working as blacksmiths with the last name "Bode." As the Gold Rush was coming to a close, and the industrial revolution was in full force, it was time to change with the times. In addition, as people were moving from depending on horse-drawn carriages to driving automobiles, the blacksmith business was slowing down. With more people wanting to hold onto their valuables, the locksmiths and safe-cracking businesses were picking up. Today, we do a lot more than "crack" safes.
