Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint

Description

Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The park is one mile (1mi) north of Depoe Bay, Oregon.Boiler Bay Viewpoint overlooks the small Boiler Bay. Boiler Bay was named after the vessel J. Marhoffer was run aground in the small bay—then known as Brigg's Landing—on May 18, 1910, after a fire spread throughout the engine room. Soon after, the burning 175ft schooner's fuel tanks exploded. Witnesses claim debris was launched nearly a half mile to a mile inland. The remains of the vessel were left in the bay, including her engine boiler. Today, the boiler can still be seen at extreme low tides.

This scenic viewpoint is definitely worth the stop. The Oregon coast is beautiful, enigmatic and surprising. Depending on the time of the year you come there might be whales in view from here.
Beautiful view! Can see whales sometimes! Green grass and cute little white wild flowers, just make your day feel good.
Just beautiful! Clean restrooms and trash service. Saw a few whales and a great place to enjoy a sunset. The photo is a view of it from the north.
This is a great spot to hang out or take a break. The area towards the sea. Hence, you get good view of the surrounding rocky beaches. There is also a restroom for convenience.
One of the best places for whale watching. First time to see whales moving from here to there so clearly. Many bird species can be seen there too. It’s amazing and it worth spending time there while watching whales. Parking is spacious and restrooms are available.
I get the most beautiful pics every time I'm here. Great place to sit, and just enjoy the sounds.
Very friendly birds. If you likely crows and Seagulls it's a fund picnic area to visit. The views are pretty and Boiler Bay is accurately named, as the water looks as if it churns. Good for a short visit. Plenty of photo opportunities. I come to hang out with the birds, because I live relatively close.
Great place to try and spot some whales! The public restroom was clean and well-stocked. There are multiple picnic tables, so pack a lunch if you want. There's a big, open grassy area if you want to bring some chairs or a blanket to hang out on. And, of course, the views are fantastic. When the tide is high the waves crashing here can be huge. I definitely recommend this is as nice spot to stop.
Love stopping there every time the wife and I take a beach trip. Great place to watch the ocean crash into the rocks watch whales and sea lions
Pros: There's a lot of tables for party/picnic. There's no access to the water. Parking lot is big enough. Cons: There's no access to the water. There's no shade.
