Since year-1999, I have dedicated my practice to representing families in their estate planning, with my main focus being on planning for the particular needs of both our aging and disabled population.
I consider myself an “elder-law attorney”, which is simply, and non-technically, defined as the type of client being served. So, although an elder-law attorney may handle a range of issues, he has a specific type of client—that being seniors.
I offer a range of services in my firm, ranging from Estate planning to Medicaid planning & spending down for medicaid. A lot of individuals who have loved ones or themselves are in nursing homes don't realize that they can qualify for medicaid benefits and save themselves or their loved ones from the exuberant costs of nursing homes here in Michigan.
The cost of nursing-home long-term-care is financially devastating—in year-2013 in Michigan, the average is around $7,631 per-month. Medicaid planning involves designing a plan that protects and shelters monies from the huge expense incurred when receiving long-term care in a nursing home.
In other words, I counsel families on the proper way to “spend-down” and qualify for long-term-care medicaid benefits in a way that protects the assets (and, possibly, the monthly income) before one goes broke. Please contact me for counsel and help in these matters.
It is important to find an attorney who specializes in Medicaid planning, special needs planning & Elder law related issues. Relying on an attorney who practices all areas of the law could result in money & time lost. It's the same as calling an electrician for a plumbing issue, he will take longer, not understand the issue; you will eventually have to call the plumber.
