Perfect adequate hotel. On the fancier side for sure. They do serve Starbucks coffee at the bar in the lobby, don't get your hopes up though, it's the bare minimum basics. The rooms are nice but oddly laid out. The bathroom was rather cramped. Housekeeping didn't pay attention to the do not disturb sign on the door... that was interesting. There is both a pool and a hot tub, as well as a shower in the pool area.
Very clean. Personable staff who were very helpful. Restaurant on site but I didn’t eat there so can’t rate it. Snacks, some travel accessories, and toiletries available for purchase in a small shop next to the front desk. Check your shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner that’s mounted in the shower before getting into the shower. Ours was empty but it was too late to call for refills… when you discover it while already in the shower! The beds are advertised as queen but are actually full sized. So, if you absolutely need a larger bed, you’ll want to keep that in mind.
We had a falling out with this particular hotel several years ago. We very rarely stayed there since that time emergencies only, but recently had a family member die and we needed a place to stay locally. We decided to use them again and I'm glad we did. The service was really great which was the problem when we left, the rooms were clean and the facility looks great. It's a corporation, so we're just a number; I know that. But if you're willing to stay on top of your own arrangements book early, specify room preferences and call the morning of your stay to be sure they are aware of your preferences and arrival time then you'll likely have a good experience.
Pros: Awesome location and a beautiful hotel. The lobby restaurant had a tasty menu selection and a really cool bar. Cons: The pool was closed due to equipment failure and the concierge lounge is very limited in food selection.
This hotel needs a serious overhaul. The lobby looked nice but the rooms are old, carpets were gross and the bathrooms are very dated and looked dirty. The tv was located on the side of the bed so it wasn’t comfortable watching from either the sofa or the bed… very strange. As a Marriott Bonvoy card holder I expect a better room. Had I known I would not have booked at this Marriott location.
Con’s: -Not recommended for long stays. The 6-floor hotel only has 2 machines to do personal laundry so machines will rarely be available esp. if other guests aren’t quick getting their clothes out. -No microwave in rooms. -microscopic-sized waste bins. -Access is a bit inconvenient. Even if room is near the rear stairwell, you need to use the front hotel entrance, since room keys won’t work on the rear exterior door so all the rear parking area is wasted. Pro’s: +Staff is very friendly +very comfortable beds +good temperature control +good restaurant, though very expensive easily $25-35 per individual meal, even breakfast buffet +seems to be daily room cleaning which is rare in hotels these days +convenient location off Route 128 +nice pool +nice large exercise room
I would recommend staying here. There is a lot of parking available. The rooms are spacious and clean. I spent one night here in a concierge room. I specifically picked this room so my husband and I had access to snacks and breakfast the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving morning as I knew it would be difficult to find businesses open on Thanksgiving. The concierge lounge was open the day before Thanksgiving which was great, there were hors d'oeuvre, dessert and a nice selection of drinks. On Thanksgiving the lounge was locked and there was no breakfast. If I would have known that the lounge would be closed on Thanksgiving I would have purchased a cheaper room. After asking for some compensatation for the lounge being closed, the lady at the front desk gave us voucher for the restaurant in the hotel, which we appreciate. There definitely could have been some better communication regarding the lounge on the hotels part but the rest of the stay was great. If you stay on a holiday I would make sure that the lounge will be open.
Rooms were fine. Lobby is clean. But my room only came with 1 single towel. Also, for some stupid reason, their Starbucks closes at 10am??Rooms: 3/5
I booked a stay in October 16th using Marriot Bonvoy reward certificate. It was a birthday gift and looked forward very much to visiting Salem during Halloween. Due to a unfortunate and terrible situation my 10 year old had a heart arrhythmia and I had to take her into the hospital missing my stay. The hotel billed me as a no show for the entire amount of the stay $322 and has refused to work with me at all even after opening explaining the situation and opening dispute case through Marriott Bonvoy. I have been a loyal Marriot Bonviy member for 16 years and am completely disgusted by the hotels lack of compassion or understanding.
1. The service was great. Front desk super friendly and accommodating. 2. Had a fridge for my diet cokes. :- 3. Able to stream Netflix, as long as they hotel is not too crowed with streamers. Then it is a little slow. 4. Had no problems with WiFi. 5. Was a Great Location for us, close to the highway and centrally located for activities. 6. Room was clean- the hallways and certain features a little out dated, but lobby was nice, and the rooms were nice. 7. Bed was okay. 8. Air conditioning worked well. 9. Breakfast buffet- was good- a little over priced… but decent. Thanks for a good trip- we will be back.
