I am a different rideshare provider than the other recent reviewer here on maps in Colorado. I heard about the problems in and around Breckenridge between a couple of people like myself, seeking to do business part-time in the town. I have done other types of business in town in the past other than driving as well. I have felt a prejudice toward small businesspeople in the town and heard from many others that the “civil serving” towards themsuch as the local law enforcement is often unfair, and can chase them out of all attempts to try to establish any presence of creativity and entrepreneurship. Ironically, a place such as Breck stays away from some good chains and such because they strive for creativity, but they must have a bias against ridesharing. It doesn’t make sense for a place that wants to be beautifully preserved to take away the resourceful, less-taxing to the environment services such as ridesharing. I did speak to others in this category, and though they’ve raised the concerns to the police in three formats-in person, over the phone, and via email, the response was that they laugh when a rideshare “innocent” of their devices, or policies, gets the full consequences in court fir doing the best they can do to several and help other humans in town with these services.
After living in the mountains and doing some Uber for massive groups of families and people in the town, my family, friends, and I believe that without the understanding wisdom, the right experience, and cooperation amidst busy and stressful events and situations, there is A MUCH GREATER CHANCE of bad and even fatal outcomes. On February 18, evening 6:45PM near the bus depot, I was stopped for a headlight warning. The officer was young, but collected the docs and said, "Drive safe, have a good night." I wanted to check my lights, and went to where it might be less busy out. MASSIVE SNOW PILES ALONG French street where it was darksee pic blocked many things! I approached the darkened part of the street with ABSOLUTE CAUTION, only creeping along, seeking to make sure the pedestrians who were loud and many and surrounding my car on the sides and behind me were completely and totally safe. They are human and deserve that consideration from me. Some pedestrians waved me on, and I had been barely moving anyways, and had stopped appropriately in order and according to the laws. In Colorado, we all are also always required to yield to pedestrians, technically, at crossing, and by instinct as well as protocol and safety in a crowd, it is always a "pedestrian first" that is safe, legal, and appropriate, again, in those times and In the crowd and the chaos of busy-town-the town broke the record historically in that snowfall!!To my very best abilities, I complied and applied all the wisdom, direction, and lawfulness and safety one could have in the situation! The young officer somehow had found my car again. His lights flashed behind me AGAIN, and I was caught unaware, thinking, "This must be my headlight again". I felt confident and safe for a moment that I could assure the officer that I already had plans to replace a bulb. I then saw his face again at my window. I was surprised to say the least. It had been about 10 minutes since he had said, "Drive safe, have a good night", and I had carefully organized, and carefully looked for a good parking area following that. I was shocked when he said, "Did you see that stop sign?" and thought, "WHAT IS THIS REALLY ABOUT?" My mind somewhat flashed back to story after story in the past that I had been told, about the heavily touristy towns' locals being so frustrated, even enough to completely give up driving, though they were legally able to continue to drive. One of my seven groups contained such a passenger that evening, now without a car, but yet very able and legally OK to drive, working in the town. I told him that the snow piles and pedestrians all surrounding my car were changing the dynamics, and I was seeking to save lives by cooperating with the pedestrians! They were waving the car on. I said, "I know what I did was the right thing, you just stopped me a minute ago.. Why were you following me? What is this, why is this? You wished me well and you know what I am doing. I am headed to home.." I was confused, to say the very, very least.. At this point, rudeness, disrespect, would take over, and zero listening or compassion for the seven groups I took to safety that evening in my car would matter to him.. He grabbed my license from me again, went to his car ANOTHER long time, and came back with a ticket and warning of points, deadlines for receipt, and a high price for a snow covered dark stopsign amidst a heavy tourist population on that block. I and them were now worthless and his agenda would win above us all. No humanity, just a game of conquest. He appeared to want to conquer and win for the purpose of his business only, not to consider, not to care, not to be respectful, nor to be polite. I felt I was in another country, a shock beyond measure! I had served the community with all my heart and all my might for safety, trusted that the town's "officers of the peace" would be helpful and fair, when we do everything we can in our ability to help them in the community they serve in, they are responsible to protect, not to harm!
I’ve been having to deal with the dispatchers at the Breckenridge PD about a towed vehicle issue mine and it has been a bit of a nightmare but the dispatchers have been SUPER helpful and fair with me during the whole process. If Colleen and Robin are representative of the entire department, they’re doing everything right.
we have been to Breckenridge three times I had never been treated the way I was this time my nephew went to try to return some skis was called a thief the police came out and extremely rude and did not help at all we're taking the skis and leaving this place . The police department is terrible they were not considerate and we're very rude the whole time they were dealing with us and we were not the criminals we brought our skis all the way from the state of Texas with us in but instead of listening to us the cops told us to shut up and go on our way thank you Breckenridge police department you're so freaking awesome .i'll be sure to let all of my friends know that like to come here to ski how you're treated by the police department here. From out of town. Love Breck pd. Stopped by and spoke to a few of their officers and they were very friendly and even gave us a tour of PD. On a previous trip I was pulled over by an officer and he was very polite and professional. Thanks Breck pd!
