Brentwood Hospital

My daughter is in Brentwood right now. She is absolutely miserable. I went to see her 8/31/23 and the nurses have lied about her hitting her head on a desk. They are treating these children like animals. I see absolutely no help from this disaster of a facility. That place needs shut down! They are only keeping her because she has great insurance. If I could put zero stars I would. No one and I mean no one deserves to be in that place! Release my daughter so she can get the treatment she needs !

It is a scary thing to leave your 9 year old in a mental institution on suicide watch, but I’ve had to do it. My son went through Brentwood and even though they only had him inpatient for a week, he made a complete turn around. Brentwood children’s services were able to reach my son and at the end of the week he could teach a class on anger management. They counseled me and his dad and gave us some valuable information about what was going on with our son and how to handle him moving forward. They set him up with a psychiatrist and a counselor outside of Brentwood at discharge and they have been amazing too. Our experience was great and I cannot say enough about their program and how well it worked for our family. I would not hesitate to call Brentwood again if needed.

I went there of June 2022 and it was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a mental health facility. There was a fight outburst at every breakfast every lunch and every dinner the staff did minimal to try to separate the people I personally had one person come up to me and try to start a fight with me the bathroom in the wing I was staying in, was broken for three of the seven days I was there. The whole place was just terrible. The staff was very untrained and unprofessional. The nurses were always constantly having an attitude and rude like they didn’t want to be there and it was so hard to get medication and it was very very hard to talk to a doctor or get anyone to have any empathy towards you. I get it a job as a job, but in that field I feel like people should be more into what they do instead of just trying to collect a check. Definitely would never send a loved one there or anyone I cared about to get help.

My mother was sent to Brentwood at the age of 85 for alziehmiers and change in behavior. I have been a nurse for 30 years. In all my career I have never come in contact with such incompetent people who are obviously only employed for a pay check. She had one bath in 8 days. They lost her clothes we had brought. Jennifer is the most incompetent social worker I have ever come in contact with.

Update: I received a call from an advocate at Brentwood yesterday. They discharged Alivia and told me to be there at noon to pick her up! The doctor still refuses to speak to me the entire week she has been in his care. They never took intake on her. They do not have any of her medical information such as she has asthma, allergies, GI problem, UTI when coming to facility, and what medications she takes daily. Doctor is Wagner! Social worker is Rose, who refused to return any of my voicemails as well! I have had 0 communication for an entire week regarding my 9 year old daughter Alivia Davis! They have screamed at her to stop crying and to just smile and take a picture, yelled, cussed, gave her meds/drew blood without my consent, had her immediately hang up in my face when I asked her why she was slurring her words and her telling me she was in pain, refused me visitation rights, doctor violated HIPPA by leaving a voice-mail regarding Alivia on another phone #, doctor upd her meds without notifying me, made a treatment plan without speaking with me regarding anything, and so much more. My daughter might be diagnosed with ODD but she does not deserve for a facility to neglect her health, emotionally abuse her, and cut off communication with her parent!! I AM HER MOTHER, HER ADVOCATE, AND I WILL ALWAYS FIGHT FOR WHATS RIGHT! THIS ISN'T OVER! A LAWSUIT WILL BE FILED!! I would rate a 0 if possible! They refuse to discharge my 9 year old daughter! The staff do nothing but lie and the doctor refuses to speak to me he even said he would come to the facility today at 5pm then never showed up! They called the police tlon me to leave today and would not even let me visit my daughter. Even after having all of her discharge paperwork completed! This place needs to be investigated and shut down! DO NOT WORK IN MENTAL HEALTH IF YOU DONT HAVE THE HEART FOR IT!

I was there last September in 2022 I was 14, and I was there for 6 days. For the 6 days I was there I was not provided any shoes had one bra and only a single pair of sock & underwear. Overall it was a very traumatic experience. The staff were very rude, and I was kept up most night because of the loud conversation that the staff would have all throughout the night. There were many fights daily, and many arguments. I did not get the help I needed while the 6 days I was there. Never had any one on one counseling. The whole place is just very depressing!

They locked me in a room for like 3 days, no way to entertain myself, literally told them I was going insane and they said there was nothing they could do about it, worst EXPERIENCE of my life. Mental institutions are supposed to help you, not make you worse. Somehow got COVID-19 while I was in there, so obviously they dont isolate the sick patients. I have more mental issues than before I was there. Do not recommend.

Was a patient in 92/1993. Was state property as well. Fosterchild It was terrible here. I had holey shoes, not enough clothes and weird doctors that did weird procedures. They allowed a male employee from another facility to visit me. His first name was Anthony and while I was previously at his facility, he took a van load of patients to his house. I hope this place is doing better by it's patients. My name at the time was Kathy/Katherine Day

***DO NOT GO HERE*** ***DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD OR LOVED ONE HERE*** would absolutely give this place 0 or negative stars if i could. i was admitted first in 2021 in august, and had just turned 16. i was admitted a second and thankfully last time in late 2022 at 17 years old. both experiences were awful and traumatizing. staff treated us like prisoners, yelled at all the patients and were even what i would consider verbally and emotionally abusive at times. there was a strict time limit for showering and personal hygiene, and when you werent smelling fresh you would be shamed and humiliated. staff would gossip and outwardly embarrass patients there. when we were asked what we would like the staff to do to help us in our treatment, most of us put for them not to yell. however, i believe they would only yell more. triggering and further harming the patients. barely any of us were “violent”, or “had behavioral issues”, most of us were there because we wanted or tried to take our own life. and when we go to the place you’re supposed to go to get help at your lowest and are mistreated, shamed, and abused, it almost makes you want to end it all over again. the whole adolescent girls unit had only 2 social workers assigned to the unit. giving us barely, if any, contact with our social workers. and when we would try to speak to them they would have an attitude. but honestly im not shocked. seeing how yall treat your patients i can only imagine how y’all would treat the overworked and typically helpful social workers. also, the doctor who dealt with my medication didnt give me some of my prescriptions i was on when i came into the hospital. she didnt ween me off or anything, she didnt even take me off of them, she just refused to give me them when asked. leading me to feel worse, having symptoms of withdrawal. the last time i stayed there in 2022 there was a covid outbreak. i was experiencing symptoms, but didnt get tested until after 4 days of me desperately pleading to get tested. when we were in terrible pain, we were denied access to our bedrooms to lay down. the staff told us to LAY ON THE FLOOR IN THE HALLWAY! which we did, it was our only option. they told us “too many people were asking to get on bedrest not everyone can get on bedrest”. okay? then TEST US and if we have covid, LET US SLEEP IN OUR ROOMS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! NOT A COLD HARDWOOD FLOOR. and surprise surprise, i had covid. so the rest of my time i was isolated until i was discharged. this facility is terrible and traumatizing. seriously considering pressing charges. i was and still am a child suffering and did not deserve to go through any of that.

The nurses were unbelievably lazy. They complained about getting up and letting kids into the bathroom. I remember going to class and period blood started to soak through my clothes. The nurse made a scene humiliating me in front of all the kids because she didn’t feel like going upstairs to get me a pad. This place will traumatize anyone, keep out! and by the way, the nurses name was Danielle or something like that. The showers were so disgusting. There was literally a hole in the shower, mold and water all on the floors outside the shower that made slipping very prone to. The food was decent though.
