My dad has been under the care of Brightstar for a number of months and most recently, his person was Britney. When she started working with him, he was quick to tell me how helpful, logical, and caring Britney had been to him. He loved her dry sense of humor and truly appreciated that with each visit she always went above and beyond helping in ways he didn't have to direct or ask for. Thank you Britney for being a fantastic human. From Tom's daughter and Tom now at peace and with my mom in heaven.
I would like to share with you how well and professionally Josie and Natalie have accomplished my healthcare so quickly and efficiently. Osk provided care for me today. I was an RN and even taught nursing. I am amazed at this lady's ability. She was intuitive about my needs. She was so empathetic and had incredible communication skills. I totally feel Blessed to have her as a caregiver. This agency is miles beyond what I have experienced in my skilled agency. I have had the honor of working as the hiring manager with BrightStar Care Fort Collins/Loveland. I'm always thrilled to hear how our staff leads by example in helping each other in every way. Today, I'm sharing a shout out on behalf of Louise Kelley. Louise shared how grateful she is to have Leann Jessop on the same care team. She shares, "Leann went out of her way to help me without a second thought. Her pure heart and wish to help others is evident in each task. I couldn't have done it without her!" I worked for BRIGHTSTAR for about 8 months. I usually worked seven days a week including holidays. I met some great people. The director of the organization Mary has major issues with just about every aspect of managing a company. First off the company has zero benefits. No sick days, no vacation days, no 401k, absolutely nothing you would expect from a real company. When you request a vacation they deny it and make you feel bad for even asking. Keep in mind this is unpaid vacation time they are denying. They ignore phone calls and refuse to call back. I got fired in October for taking a vacation to celebrate my sons birthday and it seems like other people have been fired for the same thing. This company needs to be completely overhauled. They are neglecting patients and neglecting employees.
I have been with Brightstar for over a year. Louisa, my CNA, has been with me for a year now. She is more than a CNA to me. She is family. She is caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, diligent and a very hardworking individual. Louisa is always on time to my shifts and always has a pleasant demeanor. My needs are always taken care of because Louisa goes above and beyond my expectations every time she comes here. I am very grateful and blessed to have Louisa as my CNA.
We have been clients for over a year. Most of the aides did well. My concerns are with management.There were some scheduling issues that resolved some months ago. Lately there have been several shifts canceled due to not enough staff. I called repeatedly because I felt we being unduly targeted. 6 out of the last 8 weekends and up to 60% of our total shifts were canceled. I was told people living alone are the highest priority. When I explained our medical needs, Barbara Cook RN repeated that people living alone are the first consideration. Personally, I think medical needs are more important then socialization. When I asked why I was being singled out, she said everybody was impacted. She had in the past told me to contact another agency for care. She did give me a list. She terminated my contract and said I had one week left. In anger and frustration, I did say one inappropriate word. She canceled all my visits, never notified me and refused to answer/return phone calls. She had the weekend to reconsider her response, but did not live up to her word. This passive/aggresive behavior by a professional is inappropriate. By doing this, she intentionally negatively impacted a disabled senior. This was reported to the Colorado Dept. of Public Health and Environment and was cited for failure to follow plan of care and insufficient notification of termination.
Elizabeth, today you received a 10/10 rating from one of the clients that you kindly and compassionately care for. Thank you for your diligence and tender touch in all that you do. The way that you converse with her eases her anxiety and makes her feel cared for. We are elated and grateful that you have chosen to work with BrightStar Care.
My husband and I are so grateful to have BrightStar Care of Loveland as a critical part of his care team. His changing needs from ALS now require the professional help that the BrightStar staff of RN's and CNA's provide. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our CNA's, Rayleigh, Bracy, and Pat, for their professional skills and caring approach to Michael's needs. These nursing assistants each bring a truly personal devotion to their patients and just as importantly, to the families. This past weekend, in the middle of a record snowstorm, Rayleigh made an extraordinary effort to get to our home both for morning and evening care. It was supposed to be her weekend off, but she willingly gave up her time to help both BrightStar and us, knowing that many other staff found themselves stuck and unable to reach clients. She is a bright spot in our days with her excellent care and delightful sense of humor. Bracy is not only skilled as a CNA, but also has a wonderful rapport with Michael. My husband enjoys interesting conversations with this young man as do I. Pat is a seasoned veteran CNA who works long days and nights for those clients requiring more extensive care. She is a wonderful teacher and trainer for the younger CNA's as they are assigned to new clients. Overseeing the CNA staff is Wendy, a very experienced and caring nurse. As a retired nurse practitioner myself, I am so grateful to Wendy and her staff for the excellent professional attention they all bring to the care of my husband and our family. The ever-changing face of ALS is both heart-breaking and stressful for us. The staff of BrightStar, including the office team, continue to provide critical support and reassurance that they are with us as we navigate this difficult journey.
Our family has utilized Bright Star twice. They initially helped with the care of my father before he passed away in 2015 and then because we had such a pleasant experience we called them again in this last fall when my mom needed a caregiver to give her some extra help. I can't even begin to explain what a relief it was to have Bright Star with my mom. They were kind, attentive, flexible with our scheduling needs and listened to her needs and adjusted the care given based on her expectations and wants. Bright Star was like extended family to all of us and they stayed with us through the end of my mom's life and I couldn't be more grateful to have had such a loving and compassionate staff that treated my mom and all of us with kindness and respect through such a difficult time. I would highly recommend Bright Star to EVERYONE from just needing simple companion care through end of life assistance - they are just AMAZING and we were blessed to have them there for our family. Thank You Bright Star!
