Broders' Pasta Bar

About

Pasta cooked the way it is meant to be!

"Still, and always, family owned and operated, Broders' Pasta Bar has been serving house made and quality imported pastas and risottos since 1994. Focusing both on Italian regional traditions as well as seasonal & local ingredients. We source from Midwest farms, when possible, and grow vegetables in our own parking lot garden weather permitting, of course! but really, it's about the pasta.Located across W. 50th Street from Broders’ Cucina Italiana, the original deli and specialty food shop, Molly and Tom Broder opened the Pasta Bar - to cook the pasta they were selling the way it was meant to be: fresh, al dente, perfectly sauced and thoughtfully executed."

Prices have increased dramatically from when I went there in winter 2022 to now, summer 2023. In a short span of time, I witnessed my $20 become roughly $28 and a dessert that I have had go from $7 to $12, so that is the part that may upset some. With all that said, this place is still one of my favorite Italian food places in the Twin Cities, if not my favorite. Apart from the prices, a few more things have changed, such as open for lunch now instea of just dinner, and of course, the ever changing menu. I have been here 3 times and I have not seen their menu looking exactly the same as the last time I was there, specifically regarding the types of pastas. The food is just delicious. I have had a few pastas that I have seen remained on their menu, such as the fettucine con manzo and the pappardelle con coniglio. I have also had other pastas that only remained on their menu for a certain amount of time, such as the ravioli di zucca, the ravioli di granchio, the stringozzi langostino, and more. Their pasta is very well made because every single bite, whatever you include in the bite whether it is pasta alone, pasta with the other ingredients, or just the ingredients themselves, the pasta tastes the same, which is amazing, because the flavors truly work together. My only critique is the calamari. For $17, the amount given is way too little, on top of the fact that calamari is fried but there is very little sauce underneath, and the lemon is also fried so instead of lemon becoming a complement ingredient, it becomes a part of the edible dish, which works for texture but leads to the calamari itself very underseasoned. Everything else is a hit! Excellent food one can count on. I strongly recommend the tiramisu dessert. The coffee flavor was strong and they had some extra sweetness there that was very comforting. It was not artificial sweetness that would make me feel like I was eating plain sugar. Maybe even the best tiramisu I have had anywhere here in the Twin Cities. I also recommend the profiteroles price went up from $7 to $12, which are really simply made from cream puff pastry, ice cream, and chocolate syrup. It tastes amazing and I can imagine one taking this idea to make at home. Overall, I love it every single time I visit this place! This will be one of my top go to restaurants for bringing my friends to try Italian food.
Love the outdoor patio setup! Nice variety of pasta.. excited to go back to try other options. Decent drink selection as well. Small parking lot—it was easy for us to find a spot.Recommended dishesKid's Caesar Salad
Bangin' pasta. You can taste how authentically italian the food is by the bite and the chew of the pasta. The portion sizes were good, the food was flavorful, the cheese was grated generously, the desert was delicious. We were seated on the patio, and we ordered fettuccine con manzo, the pasta special, fettuccine Alfredo, and cacio e pepe. All the food was great. The fettuccine con manzo was the best out of everything that we ordered. We also ended our meal with the affogato which was a delight. Please keep in mind that wait times to get seated at Broders are long since they don't take reservations and it's based on a first come-first serve basis. Vegetarian options: There are a lot of vegetarian options so the place really works for those who can't eat meat.
Tiny Italian restaurant, call ahead if you can and don't expect them to accommodate large parties. The flavors were excellent, I enjoyed the, Fettuccine All'Arrabbiata a spicy pork belly dish. My wife had Fettuccine Alfredo and raved about the lemon butter sauce. I personally thought mine was too Al Dente Plates but that could be my moms fault. Their dinner plates can go from $20-$30. The crowd is an older established group the bar was a very popular spot. There were very few children in the restaurant or patio. Although they do have a kids menu, it's called Kits Menu, and 10% of sales goes to support the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota
Greetings, I was served pasta without the cream sauce although the waiter had a little micro aggression by saying the pasta is not supposed to be in a pool of sauce. When I complained that there was no sauce at all as you can see in the picture. I also checked it in the car but I was in a hurry to get to work and don't have the time as I was already a little late. When I call back to speak with the manager who was very professional I did let him know that I could bring the meal back to him just to prove there was no sauce. The excuse was the noodles may have soaked up the sauce. This is what the waiter told me who took my order, you can look in the bowl and see the white of the bowl with no sauce. I did receive a call back from the manager I called back and got the waiter that took my order he was rude in a nice way microaggression is something that's not supposed to be recognize but there is a hidden message
So rare to find a restaurant that truly lives up to its hype! My favorite restaurant to go grab a nice bowl of pasta at. You can taste the quality and freshness of all the ingredients. Staff are wonderful and are very knowledgeable about the menu.Food: 5/5
Great service. Enjoyed the bolognese. My wife is a picky eater but still enjoyed it… The location across the street has a more basic fair, FYI.Food: 5/5
We went on a Monday evening and it was pretty busy, but had no wait for a table inside. The patio looked cute and perfect for summer meals. Our food came out within minutes. We tried the fettuccine with beef and tagliarini di locanda di lupo. The tagliarini was incredible— super rich and flavorful, and would definitely order again. The menu was big for a pasta place so we would try something other than the fettucine next time. We didn’t order drinks or dessert because the server didn’t come over at all, but the food was good despite the vibes being off. Parking lot is very small but there’s street parking nearby.
Great meal. Ordered the pasta special and a clam pasta dish can't remember the dish name. Good service and nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating
Food tastes fine. The quantity was very sad. Maybe it's a Minneapolis thing, but over $45 for half filled containers of thin spaghetti noodles and penne pasta with sauce not good. Must be taking thier ques from all the thieving sociopaths running around the city.
