Brother’s Keeper aims to provide adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities with opportunities to further their intellectual, vocational, social, spiritual, and physical development. In recognition of each individual’s unique, God-given value, all training and education shall be tailored to suit the special abilities and special needs of each adult so as to maximize their opportunities to learn and succeed. Having developed life skills in a safe, faith-based environment, these adults will gain the confidence to use their God-given abilities to serve each other and the broader community, relying on the Lord for His gracious provision all the while.
Classes will feature functional academics so that enrolled adults may enhance their thinking skills and computer skills, while being exposed to integrated therapy concepts. The program will train in social and community awareness, vocational skills, cooking skills, and more. Besides the program’s educational component, it will provide education about nutrition and physical fitness to enable these adults to lead healthy lifestyles. Finally, the adults will build a community through social activities. Overall the programs strive to provide these adults with productive and meaningful challenges.
