Brown Stadium is a football stadium located in Providence, Rhode Island. It is the home of Brown University's football and outdoor track teams. The athletic teams at Brown University, known as the Bears, compete in the Ivy League.HistoryThe stadium opened in 1925, and was originally known as Brown University Field. It is located on Elmgrove Avenue in the city's East Side, approximately 3/4 of a mile from the rest of the athletic facilities and over a mile from the main campus. The architectural design features a trapezoid-shaped southwest stands and a smaller section of concrete bleachers on the northeast side. Stands sit on both sides of the field along with a running track. The press box traverses the entire top of the southwest stands, and the rear of the southwest side includes several ornate "B" logos and the university's seal, as well as two stone bear's heads on either end of the stands. The original wooden benches were replaced with aluminum ones in 1978 as part of the football team's 100th anniversary. The stadium currently has a capacity of 20,000.Brown has had many successful teams since the stadium opened, including the Iron Man team of 1926, when eleven players played the entirety of two games and most of a third; the 1976, 1999, 2005, and 2008 Ivy League championship teams; as well as players such as Joe Paterno '50, former head football coach at Penn State, and several former NFL stars such as Don Colo of the Cleveland Browns and Steve Jordan of the Minnesota Vikings.

Old school concrete stadium with aluminum bench seating. Great views keep you close to the action. Concession stand serves foot long hot dogs, candy, fries, soda and a few other items. There is a Narragansett beer garden. Students free!

This is the stadium for Brown University men's football Ivy League home games. It seats 20,000. It has accessible entrances. Entrance to games is by paid admission fee. Entrance is free for Brown students and Brown faculty and staff with a valid University ID. The stadium's playing field was converted from traditional grass to artificial turf during the summer of 2021. Visitors sit on the north side bleachers and the home team and fans sit on the south. All bleachers are inclined "stadium" seating,.are flat metal, and sit atop are attached to heavy concrete formations. The bleacher seats have no backs. There is no VIP seating or enclosed booths. The Brown Band plays in the bleachers in a reserved section. There is a reserved student section also. The Brown University Sports Foundation sponsors a tailgate tent and pavilion with traditional and upscale food and beverage prior to, and throughout most of the game, for each home and away game. Entrance is by separate admission fee. Informal tailgating by fans and guests is in the parking lot. There is a paid reserved parking section. Games are Saturday afternoons, typically. Some games are televised on ESPN channels. In recent years, there has been one night game every season or 2.
