Excellent time at the concert in the courtyard. The musicians were very talented and entertaining. It was well organized, tables all had great views, parking on the grounds was easy in and easy to get out quick. Very pleased.Visited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$31+
We didn't get to go inside, but the gardens and grounds were lovely and there were plenty of photo opportunities. The pet cemetery was a highlight of our visit! I would also recommend reading the informational plaques and checking the QR codes for more content on their website. The staff was friendly and helpful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
After waiting for the house to open, we were turned away because we had not purchased tickets ahead of time. There was nothing posted outside of the house stating tickets were needed or that they needed to be purchased ahead, we were told we could wait another 30 minutes and come back for a self guided tour but weren't aloud to go at the time we were there ....we were the first people in line when they opened the house. We went ahead and left as we didn't have the time to wait the additional time and it saved our group $70.00. So I would highly recommend finding and purchasing the tickets ahead of time or don't waste your time by even going.
Me and my dad chose to visit this place for my last day of staying in Cedar Rapids, the mansion and the grounds itself were very beautiful and scenic. We ordered the tickets for a non guided tour before we got there. The staff who scanned our tickets told us that it was fine to walk around the house and that everything checked out. The staff at the front was nice but looked at us a little weird and overall seemed off. My dad and I went to the 3rd floor first and chose to make our way to the bottom floor from there. As we had gotten up there a female staff worker had followed us up and said told us we has snuck away from the rest of them. We explained that we had the no tour guide tickets and she smiled sarcastically and preceded to follow us around while we toured. No matter what floor we were on she followed us and tried to guide us. We even followed all the rules, didn’t touch anything, only went in doors that were open, no flash photography, etc. It was tolerable until we made our way back down to the first floor while in the library, the staff kept giving us glances and seemed to be keeping such an eye on us as if we were trying to steal something. Then right as we left we overheard one of the staff say “they’re finally leaving.” Overall it was not an experience I would like to come back too unless the staff were to change.
Beautiful mansion, excellent and informative tour! Many stairs, so be prepared! Lovely grounds to walk around. Also, another exhibit hall with many pictures, history and some artifacts. Movies! taken in the first half of the 1900's of life in the Hall family: playing with their pet lion, behind the scenes of Gone with the Wind, and other everyday occurrences!!! Such a great tour. I highly recommend.
Brucemore, a park-like, 26-acre estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is the site of a Queen Anne-style mansion, formal gardens, a children's garden, night garden, pond, orchard, and woodland. It is a great place to take photo, take a tour, or attend a community event! Check their website for events and visiting information.
