I have called the police dept several times with the concern I have regarding the speeding on Church Rd with no action. For someone who works from home I see the increase of traffic along with the increase of speeding with absolutely no police presence. When I have called I have recommended placing one of their many vehicles to sit at Hancock or even down the street at one of the church's. Again, there has been no action. To see how busy this road is getting we need more of a police presence. Please step up and patrol this area better.
The officers conduct varies depending on who they get their training from and their own moral standard. Some are helpful and respectful, but the other half do not uphold their oath or the constitution, and very much abuse their positions of power. There is no reprimand for these officers, which in turn reflects poorly on the BPD as a unit. Good officers holding bad officers accountable would restore the integrity of the BPD and the faith and respect of the community.
Over the last few years my family has had opportunities to get assistance from the town police. Last year they were very responsive when a sick fox was in our yard and handled the situation well. Most recently we were installing car seats in our vehicle for an upcoming visit from family coming in from the west coast; they were very receptive to assist in making sure they were installed correctly before we picked the family at the airport.
Seem reluctant to assist in aiding to protect the public. Minimal effort by the officers. Instead of saying, "Yes, here's how I can help you," they say, "No, here's how I can't help you." Police are limited by the law, but the law is limited by an officer's interpretation of the words that create the laws themselves. These folks just aren't putting their best foot forward. Speaking with one of these officers and asking her questions and presenting different scenarios to allow more clarity in the meaning of what she was saying ended with her telling me she wasn't going to argue with me all night about different scenarios though I wasn't arguing. I just wanted more clarity but she was unwilling to clarify, even ended up cherry picking what she was saying and what I was saying even when the examples I used were identical to hers to try and prove her point. Lots of hippocracy, lots of lack of will. It's shameful. You will not be helped by the officers.
This was my first experience with police in Maine. Officer was calm and respectful, I didn't expect that because I was in the wrong. I've had bad experiences with police in other states when doing nothing wrong. My respect and faith in police has risen substantially. I wish I got his name.
I didn't feel like I got the service/protection I should have when dealing with BPD officers and their superiors. This was while following up on a complaint regarding my dissatisfaction with how a responding officer handled the situation I called them for. I felt like I was treated with disrespect and that my subsequent complaint was challenged rather than looked into or resolved.
Officers are overly aggressive on the rd and find it perfectly acceptable to tailgate just to check plates.
Officers are respectful and competent
The officer was extremely helpful
