Creating Hand Carved Working decoys and Shorebirds by Traditional Methods
Richard Christy is a retired Certified Executive Chef of 38 years. He has been carving decoys for the same length of time, creating heirloom working decoys and shorebirds using traditional methods. Over the years he has expanded his craftsmanship into creating Appalachian White Oak Baskets (Mountainman Basketry) and Hand Hewn Dough Bowls and Treenware. Each piece is one of a kind and no two alike. He is also a Juried Artisan with The Artisan Center of Virginia. The Studio of Buck Island Bay Decoys is located onsite of Rock-n-Creek Cabin and both are destinations on the Monticello Artisan Trail as a destination for those adventurous. Give us a call and come to see heirlooms made for our future generations.
