Building confidence in women and men, through fashion.
Empowering Women & Men Through Fashion
One woman, many God-given talents and a multitude of crafts...
One dreary winter day, a few years ago, I discovered ETSY through another site. I thought it was pretty cool to find crafts made by the artists themselves but never really bought anything on there. Once in a while this wonderful website popped up and eventually I did make a few purchases, admiring all the fine artists and crafters there. I wished I could do what they did and wished I could create pretty elegant things and sell them too.
Over time I discovered through my family, friends and my husband that I did have a talent for making beautiful things and I did have a sense for fashion that reflected my African Heritage. So, somewhere in the Fall of 2015 I decided to launch BuckCamp Designs and slowly started to make items & ordering specially hand tailored clothing.I then created my shop.
I didn't have a name though. One night while I was at dinner with my husband the wonderful idea of "BuckCamp" came to mind. It was witty and it involved both of our names. It had an exotic feel & most of all it summed up all that I hoped to share via fashion and jewelry in my shop. So very quickly my little shop was born and is now well on its way with multiple listings and many new creations in the works.
To make my pieces I seek out items that reflect my African Heritage and my husband's Caribbean background, take apart classic African Fashion and add a dab of modern sophistication to try to make my pieces unique. No two pieces will be alike and some are one of a kind or one time creations.
Usually, I'll sit down at least once a day or every other day and make 1-4 new items. Then I'll wait for a sunny day to photograph them and viola, they are here for your viewing pleasure. You're invited to contact me to ask if I can make a similar piece to one that has sold and I'll tell you if I still have the parts or if that piece was the only of its kind.
Thank you for visiting my shop and I hope you have a lovely day!
