Very quiet campground that has been completely redone over the last 2 or 3 years. With only 23 spaces available, your neighbors aren't stacked up on top of you. A little over half are full hook-ups and the rest primitive camping. A couple of good hiking trails, with one leading you up to Point Rock. Several ATV trails as well.
This is a great state park. Kind of a hidden gem that is somewhat off the beaten path. Incredible views that rival anything else in the state of Alabama. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Everything seemed to be very accessible. I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area! Even if you’re not I’d say it’s worth a drive. If you don’t want to hike some great scenic spots are just steps away from parking so that’s always nice.
At the very top of Buck's Pocket more guardrails should be put in place. Where one guardrail ended was an open area with a very long drop off space. The view is beautiful. The only downside was at the playground below, at a campsite, there was a female, in a very loud manner, very rude to some kids about a buick wall and staying out of "her" flowerbed. How can she have a flower bed in a State Park? The kids weren't on the flowers, but standing on mulch next to the brick wall. There were no signs not to stand on mulch or next the brick wall. I noticed how the people had gotten upset at her attitude towards the children. It was a distraction from the peaceful environment. Playground: Great playground for children of all ages. Swing sets, slides and other playground equipment. Restrooms: Clean, well stocked restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Dogs walking with collars and leashes without barking or growling at each other. Picnic area: Picnic tables and trash cans well placed for enjoyable time in park.
This place is amazing for family's, pets and couples alone! So beautiful with lots to do! Playground: Clean and very nice Restrooms: Awesome also has showers Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome with no charge all they ask is if your on the walking track and road to clean up after them. They provide the bads as well! Picnic area: Gorgeous
Love the campground and management. Nice level concrete pads and shady. Nice place to hike, trail ride and a nice play ground for the little ones. The last leg coming in, maybe a 1 1/2 miles has a couple of switch bad and the road could really needs some attention but it’s doable even on motorcycles.
We enjoyed this campground so much; we are planning another trip and taking friends with us. Great area for motorcycle riding with 60’ concrete pads. I can’t say enough about the friendly park rangers.
Absolutely beautiful! If you love nature, you will love this park!
We stumbled upon BP almost by accident but we're very happy with the ATV trails. It went along a river all day and gave us many chances to stop and admire the view, eat, or even fish. The trails are a mix of dirt trails, rock climbs, and mud pits. Fun all around.
Absolutely loved this park. I'm not usually a fan of the parking lot style RV park, but this one was small enough that even when full, did not seem over crowded. The spots were very spacious, and some had a a seasonal creek running behind. The adjacent hiking was fantastic! Office staff was amazing, very helpful and polite. Only down side was the showers, and that is about par for the course at RV parks. Water pressure issues, and people don't know how to close doors.
Very beautiful overlook that reminded me of little river canyon! The campground was very peaceful and relaxing! The only drawback was the creek was dry but fall season should bring up the water! We had a very nice day there! Thank yall for letting us look around! Restrooms: Did not see restrooms at the lookout view! Picnic area: There were some picnic tables!
