Detroit Public TV was cheesy and pepperoni was layered throughout. Cheese was baked-crispy on the edges, which provided an enhanced flavor to the already delicious baked mozzarella. Detroiter pizza was packed with flavor. A lot going on and happening on the pizza. 4 slices is perfect for one person. Big eaters should get the 8 slices. Parking: Not many spots. It is a strip mall on the avenue.
The steady flow of regulars should clue you in to this delicious corner of square brick heaven. The pizza is as much a Detroit staple as the cans of pop in cooler. The "Super 6" is great if you love a bit of everything, but you can't go wrong with any choice because the crisp, crunchy bread crust is the best part!Food: 5/5
This was my first time trying Detroit style pizza and it definitely did not disappoint.Food: 5/5
The pizza was very tasty. The buffalo wings were not bad, just needed to cook a little longer. We ordered 16 wings and received 8 didn't check the food. They were nice about the situation and will refund/give us 16 wings one day when ready.Food: 4/5
This was my first time trying Buddy’s as i was curious to all the hype. The pizza is alright but can’t say this was my favorite Detroit style pizza. The topping to cheese ratio was good but the sauce was lacking in terms of amount. Some pieces didn’t even have much sauce at all and I love sauce. The crust was crispy as expected so that was nice. I may be back to give it another shot and request extra sauce.
Had a gift card and ordered cheesy bread, a 4 slice deep dish, and marinara sauce. Cheesy bread tastes like a burnt cheezit, not enough cheese either. The dough barely rose on both the pizza and bread. The pizza sauce is incredibly unpleasant, and the marinara sauce is watery and disappointing.Food: 1/5
Buddy’s has gotten larger and larger over the years and I fear that they will soon go from a local pizza business to more corporatized pizza. I can start seeing signs of buddy’s getting more corporatized especially in the quality; more cookie cutter pizzas that look like they came off a conveyor belt rather by hand. The pizza was good, offered great crunch and a loads of taste. Sauce was really lacking terribly, as there was barely any sauce. A solid 7/10 pizza, but I hope buddies continues to stay local and not let the corporate overlords take control.
If this is the level of quality that Buddy's intends to take across the US with its expansion, then the current curiosity and craze over Detroit style will quickly be coming to an end in every market they enter. In five visits to this store, I've never had even a single stray shred of cheese melted over the crust, yet alone caramelized - the hallmark of a Detroit style. The dough has been dense and sunken on every pizza, not airy... like a Detroit style dough. This time, I asked for extra sauce, which got me more than the last four pies, but about two ketchup packets worth of volume total. I understand this is a to-go spot, but Cloverleaf is expanding as well, and while their satellite shops aren't as good as Eastpoint, they're at least worth the money and the name. And both this and the Buddy's Troy location probably rank below a square from Little Caesars in quality and definitely value. If you want a legit Detroit style and you're on Woodward, Crispelli's does a pretty good job, in Royal Oak overall, Palazzo Di Pizza is great. And if you want the best of the best in the area, obviously that's Louie's in Hazel Park. Buddy's may have invented the Detroit Style - we all get it - but Blockbuster also invented the on-demand movie, and Blockbuster is out of business. So if it's pizza and movie or game night with the family at your house tonight, my recommendation is to try and remember the last time you visited a video store, because it was probably around that time that Buddy's made its last good pizza.
First time ordering Buddy's and it hurt my pizza heart. Was expecting a blackened at least darkened caramelized cheese crust, but crust was barely golden. I don't recall a "done-ness" option, but I would have requested it cooked 15-20 minutes longer. I baked at 450 for 20 minutes at home, which helped but didn't fix the issue.Food: 2/5
So I don’t know where to start, but Buddies Pizza is fantastic. I feel like I am a weirdo because I love their salads, and their vinaigrette dressing is the bomb. I have got pizza from another place and picked up a salad from here. Pizza is pretty fantastic, but I don’t want you to think I have cheated on buddies with another pizza with their salads. Anywho buddies are the best Suppose you have not had it. Wow, you are missing out!
