Would it possible to give negative 100 stars? This was the worst car rental experience ever! I have never before felt the need to return a rental so quickly. First off, Diane had about 10 cars that Budget fleet drivers were taking back to other locations. Fine. So I wait for more than half an hour because somehow the customer is less important than they are. When she finally gets to me, she does not greet me, does not introduce herself, does not have a name tag. OK, whatever. She prints up the contract which is barely legible since the ink is so light and makes the excuse that the copy I keep will be easier to read. Ok but not by much When we get out to the van, which is an upgrade, it is filthy! Absolutely disgusting on all sides. "We don't have the capability to clean them here." I'm thinking - Why not? Everyone else can. "This is the only car we have." So?! Nevertheless, I take the van since I have a job I need to get to. Driving away at about 30 MPH, I hear a terrible noise coming from the rear of the van. As I get on the freeway, then the van starts shaking and vibrating at only 70 MPH! On top of that, it stinks like a Value Village store. Trying to determine the cause of the noise from the rear, I see that the passenger rear tire is balder than me! Furthermore, there is something leaking from the engine compartment. I was supposed to have the van for three days but I returned it within just a few hours. Did Diane ask why I was back so soon? No. Offer an apology or a thank you? Nope. All she said was, "Were you able to fill it up?" and "Here's your receipt." Between renting out vehicles that are pathetically filthy AND unsafe, along with Diane who has all the customer service skills of a prison guard, this place needs to close up shop and go away forever. If you must rent from Budget, first look around for a Lime bike and use one of those. You'll be a lot safer!
If you want to be treated poorly and talked down to, this is the rental location for you! Diane is incredibly rude; she didn't wear a name tag and didn't bother to introduce herself. Despite filling up the gas tank 18 minutes and 10 miles before I arrived, the gas gauge read just below full. Per Diane, that translated into a $29+ fuel charge. I was I think understandably frustrated. She was unwilling to do anything to help me. She held the line and said I could take the car and fill it up or pay the fee. I had to get to work, so I left frustrated. I called Budget corporate - they asked me a few questions and immediately refunded the fuel charge. I don't understand why this woman was so unwilling to help me and created so much work for me. I even called back to ask her why she didn't help me the way that corporate did. Diane said she wasn't able to refund the charges. I then asked her why she didn't suggest I call corporate, and she said because I was "debating" the charges and she wasn't going to discuss it with me over the phone and then hung up on me. Needless to say I won't be using this location again. The only reason I'd consider Budget again is because of the good experience I had when I called. It's just that I never should have had to call... Get it together Budget Tacoma!
One star for a decent vehicle. Zero stars for the on-site customer service. Zero stars for the multiple temporary authorizations on my credit card totaling over $750 for a $91, PREPAID reservation. Have rented from Budget and other rental car companies multiple times and expect better because they were better. NOT recommended. AVOID. There are other rental car locations nearby.
Reserved a car to rent and when I got there they gave the last car away and basically said "good luck" with a smile. If I reserve a car I expect there to be a car regardless of when I order it. If they accept the reservation for that day it should be there. Never going again and don't recommend it
Hidden fees everywhere. I did my reservation through Expedia and it was supposed to be $60 dollars for just a day with a 42 dollar charge for the accident thing, my Expedia price was not honoured and My total came out to be $203.04, along with the $200 deposit with the car. be careful when renting a vehicle anywhere. Especially here. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because the woman there is so nice, and professional and helped me get my car right away. She can't help that there are hidden fees, it's not her fault. So she gets my stars not the company. your service was great ma'am thank you.
Ive been renting from these guys for years, when Ruslan ran this place i never had a problem. His service was good and billing was always upfront. Then that all changed when he left. My first rental from them after he left was horrible. My wife picked the car up and after being checked in at noon she didn’t leave there till 12:45 waiting on them to clean the car They rented us a car with expired tabs, drove into Idaho and was pulled over. I then had to drive that car 1+ hour one way to the Spokane airport to swap the cars out. When my wife returned the car to Tacoma we were charged over a $100 in services we didn’t opt into roadside service and xm radio along with a late fee for returning it at 12:30. I called the 1-800 number and complained, it took awhile for them to return the $100 in service fees. After all that hassle I thought the nightmare was all over, but I was wrong. A few weeks after the rental I received a letter saying I was being charged a $250 cleaning fee for “DIRT in the smoke smell of the vehicle.” The car was clean when we returned it, no excessive dirt and nobody in the car smokes. I called and complained to the 1-800 number again and am waiting back from them.
There was some confusion at the time of return. They did not complete the return in their computers and tried to charge us for an extra 10 days at an additional $2400. We submitted many pieces of information multiple times. They do not seem to have a centralized or coordinated computer system. If I spoke with someone in Utah and then the next day to someone in New Jersey they would each start the process from the beginning. They list the vehicle we had returned to the Salt Lake City airport and found 10 days later in California. I think one of the employees did not actually return it when we dropped it off and took it in a vacation. I would like to say that they eventually resolved the problem, but they did not. We had to put a hold on the payment and lock our credit card because they continued to try to charge other fees for their toll system payments. I eventually remembered that we had book the rental through Costco. One call to Costco and Costco said we'll take care of it. Within two days the $2400 was returned and we never had to speak with any of the at least 15 people from budget who failed us. One of their representatives actually tried to tell me that he was only an employee, that he wasn't Budget rentals. I told him that I hadn't called him, I called Budget and he answered so yes he was Budget, and as it turns out , a perfect representation of their company.
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the quality of service provided on four separate occasions over the course of my 53 day car rental. First, on the day of pick-up, the sales representative Miriam at the pick-up location knowingly attempted to rent me a car lacking a vehicle registration slip. By informing her this was illegal, she provided me a different car and I addressed this with the manager Jason at a later date. The manager agreed to take care of this internally. Second, the vehicle provided had a slow leak in a tire on 16AUG, therefore I drove 2hrs round trip to/from SeaTac to pick-up a replacement vehicle, as neither Tacoma nor Lakewood locations had any replacement vehicles available for pick-up, the vehicle did not come with a spare tire, and emergency roadside assistance would only agree to tow the vehicle and pay for my Uber to the airport i.e. they would not bring a spare tire and replace on scene. Third, on 11SEP my replacement vehicle key fob battery and car battery both died, requiring emergency roadside assistance and towing. Fourth, there was a discrepancy between my original rental car agreement and charges made to my credit card amounting to $126.64. Budget Customer Service assured me via email on 19SEP that the management team per my request would review this case and respond within 72 hours. It is now 24SEP with no response. I disputed the charge through my bank and they are currently investigating. Budget without a doubt has some of the cheapest car rental prices. However, is this hassle worth it? Rent with caution, folks.
Reserved and paid for a car all for them to tell me that the day of picking up they had no cars to give me. They gave the car away that I had already paid for and reserved. I do not recommend
5 stars to the Tacoma branch; They are truly amazing and great people to work with and offer a great service. The support lines and customer support are garbage however. If there is a chance you'll need to return a rental DO NOT PREPAY. They have no leniency, business principles, or people skills when it comes to helping the customer in that situation. From a customer standpoint, it completely changes the perception of Budget when the higher echelon clearly don't care about truly offering service to the customer.
