Buena Park station

Description

Buena Park is a train station at 8400 Lakeknoll Drive in northeastern Buena Park, California, United States, served by Metrolink commuter rail. It is at the center of a transit-oriented development including townhomes and a housing complex owned by the California State University, Fullerton, near the corner of Dale Street and Malvern Avenue. The station is served by Metrolink's Orange County Line and 91 Line. The station has a clock tower nearly 70 feet high which echoes a clock tower at nearby Knott's Berry Farm, itself a copy of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The station includes a 300-car parking lot and a covered pedestrian overpass to allow passengers to cross the tracks.Construction started in January 2006, and after many delays, the station opened on September 4, 2007. Construction cost $14 million. The proposed alignment for the California High-Speed Rail project would require the loss of the station or the demolition of about 25 condominiums. The City of Buena Park joined other area municipalities to demand greater consultation from the High-Speed Rail Commission. In response, the California High-Speed Rail Authority agreed to study the possibility of a "shared-track alignment" between Los Angeles and Anaheim that would not require the demolition of the present station or condominiums.

The only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is because parking is too small. I take the 7:47am train to LA Union station every day and the parking lot is always full by then. There is additional parking on the street, but the walk is a bit far. Besides that, the station is extremely nice, clean, and safe. I love it. There are bathrooms and the parking is free.
I was there on a mission... I drove there early to get my daughter's car. I Thank the Almighty Father for all his help today! I especially thank the semi-grumpy but kind-hearted bus driver that I met at the Buena Park Metrolink station that helped me get back to my daughter's car that I had parked about 8 miles away. If you only knew the whole story you would fall to your knees and praise God because "he's always right on time!" I'm going to end this now because I don't want to sound crazy but I will say this I was on a mission today... A mission that I had to stay focused and not let my heart and hands take over... This Mission was one that only a "Determined Mother" could handle.
I normally hang out at the Fullerton Station to watch trains, hadn't sat at the Buena Park Metrolink before today. Sure, this location is newer, feels like an amusement park as well. The view is even somewhat more interesting and cleaner feeling than the Fullerton platform. I did like too, there is no train security like at Fullerton, just more freedom.
I just freaking this train station as is the hiatus between a nice peaceful ride and adventures ahead....
Great station. Has bathrooms and nice walkway over tracks and pretty landscaping. Rating only 2 stars cause the parking lot is way too small. There won't be any parking after 6 am during the week and you have to park on the street and walk a good distance. Even the street parking fills up. Desperate need of a parking structure or another lot!
I've been here for a year at the Tustin Company. I used the train. The train time was very accurate and the announcement was made 10 minutes before arrival. I take the 9:30 a.m. train. The morning train is very quiet and clean. You can ride with a bicycle and a wheelchair. The train is very fast and safe. Buena park The train station here is very clean and quiet. The bathroom is clean, too. You can buy tickets online or at the station. I wait for the train while reading a book. I hope my review helps you. please Click Like My Photos and Videos. Tanks.^^*
Parking is full by 7 am here on a weekday. If you leave before then, you're fine to use this station. Or you can hunt down parking in one of the neighborhoods or along Malvern and walk kind of far. There is also no overnight parking here, either. Amtrak does not stop here. If you need overnight or Amtrak, use Fullerton Station instead. If you leave in the early morning hours, you're golden. This is a great station. Very quiet and safe neighborhood. There is a bathroom, elevators, covered waiting areas, two ticket machines that are always broken, and a bus stop.
Great place to start your adventure north into DTLA. Be advised: Parking fills up early on week days. If you find a spot after 6 a.m. consider yourself VERY lucky and go buy a lotto ticket. Additional parking can be found at the Fullerton Park and Ride. Bus fare will be two bucks one way.
Have taken trains from here to LA Union Station since April, 2015. Station is clean and uncomplicated with only two Platforms. Trains to LA Union Station arrive on Platform 1, which is closest to the access roundabout and where the tickets vending machines are. Two machines, very short queue. Mostly between 25th and 31st, when regular commuters collect monthly passes, and occasionally if a ticket-vending machine is down. Otherwise, lines at ticket vending are minimal. The Platform for trains to OC/RIVERSIDE is accessed by over-track walkway, which is reached, on each side, by a 3-flight, open-to-elements, staircase, or by elevators which are clean-ish and large. Parking lot is small and has tight spaces. Usually full before 6:30 AM, M-Th, except during school holidays when commuters are on vacation. Fridays are a little lighter, usually full by 7:00 AM. No cafeteria. Bathrooms are plenty and on Platform 1, and are usually clean. Station not as busy as Norwalk, but fairly well travelled. Added thought: If your 1st stop is Norwalk you are headed to LA Union Station. If your first stop is Fullerton you are headed to OC or Riverside line splits after Fullerton. If you get off at Fullerton, there is a bar and cafe on Platform 1 there, which is also the platform that has trains headed back to Buena Park. Adding sample itinerary for a cool trip: Go Buena Park to Union Station on Metrolink, use same ticket to take Metro Red Line and get off at Hollywood & Highland Station. Come up on Hollywood Blvd. You will come up to street level right across from El Capitan Theater and will be meters away <1 min from TCL Mann's Chinese Theater.
No parking whatsoever. I have since decided to drive to the fullerton station as there are 2 structures and never an issue with parking, it’s worth the extra 10 min.
