If you're not opposed to a very old and outdated hotel then you wouldn't mind the rooms. Since it's in its original state there are some rooms most with no shower. There is no elevator and for some this would be an issue. I think the biggest appeal for this hotel is that it is known for being haunted. The biggest perk is it sits right on the lake which is beautiful. The staff were fabulous. All this being said I would still go back again.
Nostalgic experience. Clean rooms and friendly staff. However, be prepared to take a baths & not showers. Old fashioned tubs are all that's in the bathroom along with tiny faucet sinks. Would be a five star if the whole building was restored & maybe every other bathroom having modern plumbing fixtures. From the outside, it looks like the building is falling down or at least very sketchy haunted. Interior is pretty well maintained, but as stated before with the bathrooms, this is a nostalgic experience.
Such a cool spot. Built in 1902 this place was very neat to stay in. I attended a wedding here and the food was amazing. The staff were very helpful, and friendly. I would definitely go back.Rooms: 5/5
The hotel is quaint. The historic designation prevents many updates. If you're looking for modern this is not the place. If you want clean and fun this is the place. If the price was a bit cheaper it would be a great place.Rooms: 4/5
Flys in room Stains on sheets Loud obnoxious people No microwave No mini fridge No outlets No Ice machine Kitchen was closed till 8pm Air conditioner did not work No breakfast No smoking in or out prop Unsanitary bathroom Water roof damage Ugly olive green color room, not appealing If the door is not locked, it does not stay shut For $150 bad quality products Shady and unwelcoming area When flushing the toilet, it takes 37 minutes for a toilet to reset Hot water took seven minutes to get hot Paint chips and skidmarks all over walls Window is inaccessible with painted shut
The staff is always pleasant and make sure you have an enjoyable experience. You have to remember it's and old hotel, but it is kept up and enjoyable!Rooms: 4/5
Hotel is very old and outdated, BUT the location is AMAZING. We were there for a wedding and it was absolutely a perfect weekend.Rooms: 2/5
We went for a bluegrass festival. The first floor is very nice. Not sure if it was the acoustics in the room where the bands played or the person operating the soundboard, but the music didn't sound right and you couldn't understand the words very well. Our room was not a renovated room. It was historical, you could say. The beds were up against the walls. The shower was a small stall with a short showerhead. The shower water pressure was great. It had an old box-style tv. The sink was the kind with separate faucets for hot and cold. The cold water was turned off at the valve because the faucet leaked. There was no fridge, microwave, coffee maker, safe - those kinds of things most hotels have. The blinds didn't block light very well. The room was clean. We got a decent discount because of the festival. That is about how much I think the room is worth. I wouldn't pay the normal price.
The hotel itself was charming. The grounds were well kept. The lounge was new and updated. The main floor bathrooms were updated and clean. The banquet facilities seemed pretty from a distance. The tiki bar on the beach was very nice and walking distance. The room was the worse part!! I paid an additional fee for the room with a shower, I wouldn’t allow my dog to shower in that shower!!! It was beyond disgusting! The room was very dated. Also we were awakened at 5am by banging on the wall that actually shook our bed. In conclusion, I would only stay here again if the rooms were totally remodeled. It was not worth $155!
My niece held her wedding on the front lawn of the hotel - absolutely gorgeous fall day, and the reception was held at the hotel as well. One of the nicest events we've ever attended, and if you needed to take a break, you could take a walk by the lake. Fantastic!Rooms: 4/5
