Description

Old Detroit Mounted Division stable adopted by the Buffalo Soldiers have partnered with the Friends of Rouge Park to form a coalition to help manage the horse stable. The stable is open to the public for tours. The stable houses horses and provides weekend pony rides.

Mission

To provide a safe and educational environment in regards to horses and the history of the Buffalo Soldiers.

My daughter loves the Buffalo Soldiers horse stable. We like going and feeding the horses They love when you bring them carrots and RED apples they let you know they appreciate it by stomping their hooves in excitement and My Niece and Daughter got to go for a horse back ride. The staff is amazing and We love visiting
I just wished someone would answer the phone!! They're outside tending to the property so that's okay. I just like to talk on the phone!! Either way, my birthday is tomorrow and I would like to spend the day here. I'm excited to see the horses, the park, and learn history about my people!! **Update**-->> We went to the Buffalo Soldiers and the area is so nice, so peaceful!! I truly forgot I was in the big Detroit city!! ‍We were greeted by one of the men there and explained to us where the entrance&parking was at because this is our first time. He understood. We were greeted with respect&politeness that is practically non-existent these days. This is very family&student oriented, a learning experience for everyone. Being raised in a military environment, I could see&feel the respect of the property, people, and the history of this beautiful place. I had fruits&veggies for the horses, but they could only have the redapples&carrots, which they ate up so I have to bring more next time!! Yes, there's a next time, & I'll enjoy having a picnic at the tables, sharing my food with the horses!! I had a lovely time&a very sweet birthday day!!
They were very patient with the kids while they showed them how to ride the horses. They let the kids feed them also. The kids were very happy & excited, they loved the whole experience. Keep up the good work.
This a wonderful place! Life changing experiences can occur here. Bring family friends and a couple of apples and carrots but no green apples!
Beautiful place!!! The handlers are nice, answers your questions, very helpful, and gave us tips on how to get the horses attention. My son seemed ready ro ride and they start riders at 2-year-old but we weren't ready for him to do yet. Lol!

A Legacy Of A Rich History Of African American Soldiers That Deserve Recognition In African American History Books In The Public Schools System Across The United States,And In Every American City Or Inner City Again In The United States And Canada And Mexico Not Just North America,But Around The World In Public Schools Abroad The Continent,This Particular Subject Of African American Soldiers History Should Be Recognized As Mentioned Earlier Around The World.
Great, great, great place to learn about & get exposure to horses. Where else in the city of Detroit can you see actual living breath horse every day of the year! And an all volunteer staff, an amazing group of people who share their LOVE & knowledge of horses in a safe & welcoming environment. With over 30 years of horsemanship experience under my belt, I say this is the absolute best equestrian experience you'll find metro Detroit.
I recommend this place for anyone who love horses and want to introduce their kids to to them. The people there are very nice and informative on the history of the Buffalo Soldiers.
I love this place and it's staff. You can take the kids to get a ride and feed the horses and pony.
