Burgers are supposed to be thick and juicy, and the Burger Barge didn't disappoint. Everything was awesome from the food to the service. I'm cheap, so the price was a shocker, but we'll worth it. Service was excellent. Our drinks never saw the bottom of the cup, and the waitress joked with our kids. If you haven't been, you should definitely go.
Miss the old place on the river. The menu seemed smaller then before too. Husband had the Tavern Burger and enjoyed it. Comes with an egg on it. If you like a runny yolk, tell them otherwise they cook the egg hard. Also tell them not to put a knife in it! I had the New Steak and Egg Burger. It is suppose to have Rib Eye steak on it. Yea you guessed it. It was more like processed roast beef lunch meat. To be more exact Steakums! The hamburger was cooked good and the mushrooms were good too which were the only things I ate. The egg was small and cooked hard. It will be a long time before I go back again.
At first it is unassuming but you walk in and it is a light fun environment. The service was great but the nail thing was the food I had the Andre burger big Kahana and it was the most juicy burger that I've had in a while.Food: 5/5
Not the best burger I ever had…. Service was not that great waiter barely checked on us never got us refills asked multiple times for silverware never got any until our food came had to ask for ketchup 3 times no one ever asked how our food was or if we needed anything we had to ask for it the fries were very very salty asked if the had cherry pepsi was told yea to find out it’s is not it is pepsi with cherry grenadine in it that is not cherry pepsi there is a difference had to wait for our check to be brought back to us sorry to say we will not be eating here again Kid-friendliness: Lots of game for kids to play Parking: Ample parking Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of wheel chair access
Great food and a fun atmosphere. It was great with kids, lots of cheap games for them to play.Food: 5/5
Food was amazing and our waiter was super nice.
So, this place has been on my foodie bucketlist for awhile now. Everytime we are close to this area, someone has always picked somewhere else to eat. So, we were in the vacinity today, and we thought well great, we'll meet up with some of our friends, and try it out. We were seated fairly fast, around 12:30, our waitress had our drinks out quickly, our food was super fast and both our waitress and server were extremely nice and friendly. The place was completely filled by 1pm. Not to hot inside. The temp was comfortable. The decor was very shipwrecked and shabby. The menu has shrunk in items, from what the menu looked like previously uploaded in pictures. On to our food, this is where we took some stars away. 3 Burgers with crinkle fries. 1 Fish Platter. My husbands burger had no flavor, very bland and dry. He has never NOT finished his burger anywhere that we have ever been to, until today. My fish, I thought was ok. Everything was edible, the chips and coleslaw were good. It took us 45 min from start to finish, Seated to goodbyes! We were gone for about 1 hr, and I started getting sick in the vehicle. I was the only one with the fish platter out of our party of 4. Maybe it was a sign from the *Food Gods* don't get a fish platter at a place called the *Burger Barge* I was really excited to try this place out. Everyone hyped this place up. I doubt we'll be back. We just felt really rushed eating. The Women's restroom had no working lock, the door had to be jammed shut and kicked to open. It's not a complete bad or good review. Just in the middle. Everyone has an off day.
Review Visit: April 12th, 2012 The Burger Barge is not actually on a barge. But it is a next to a river that has a riverboat casino and plenty of traffic going up and down the waterway. Burger Barge is a staple of dining in the East Peoria area. It’s just one that you would never know is there due to it’s location. So, you can consider it a hidden gem of sorts. The place is located off one of those access roads that runs parallel to the main road. Not only that but it’s about 25 feet lower than the main road and lined by a ton of trees and floral. All of that put together makes it hard to kind of spot the place when you drive by. But once you know it’s there, you are golden. So, you make your way to the Burger Barge but be warned on a few things. The access road has many potholes and will do some work on your car’s suspension. Once you reach the Burger Barge, pray it isn’t busy or else you won’t find a parking spot anywhere. There have been many times where I have tried to come here and there was just nowhere to park and that’s taking in to consideration the ability to park in the grass. If you survive the access road and find a parking spot, you are golden. Once inside, you get a distinct feeling that this place is cozy, unique, grimy, and delicious all at once. You are seated either inside or outside, depending on the season/weather and your choice of where you want to sit. I’ve been here a few times and have tried both. Personally, I like the outside as you can enjoy the view of the river and all the Asian Carp jumping as boats go by. Okay, maybe the carp aren’t a sight to see, but the view is nice and the outside seating is comfortable. The building itself seems to be a house renovated in to a restaurant. Or it seems that way from the outside. Once you enter, it feels like a shanty dive bar restaurant with aquatic decor everywhere. Not that that is bad in any way. Just a fair warning before heading in. Though, you may pick up on the unusual design of the place from the outside, which gives one a sneak peek of things to come. The place is known for their burgers and each one I have had is a winner in my book. It’s served with a plastic knife stabbed through the middle. Whether this is a threat from the chef or to keep the burger together, I am not sure. Probably the latter. Since this place is known for their burgers, they offer a wide variety to choose from and they aren’t your typical offerings. The menu sports a bit of a sea flair. Lots of references to water things and things you would probably find in a seaside town. If you are feeling adventurous for a great burger and you have some sturdy sea legs, give the Burger Barge a chance. You might just set anchor there and declare it the best burger ever.
A group of 10 friends went there on a Friday night about 7pm, and they accommodated us. We ate outside, which was nice. Our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us throughout our visit. I had the mushroom burger, which was delicious. The rest had different burgers and the fish, no one complained, especially about the 3 dollar margaritas. Would recommend you give it a try. They are only open part of the week so check out their website or FB for the details Parking: Plenty of room for parking, no problem even when they are busy. Wheelchair accessibility: Good access for persons with disabilities.
The staff was very friendly. The Burgers was tasty. The ambient was special and nice music was playing in the background.Food: 5/5
