Burke Center

I have been fighting for a year to get my boyfriend the mental help he needs. The Burke Center puts him in Aspire for 5 days and throws him back out in the same toxic environment. He can't control his anger and doesn't make sense when he talks Mental health is non-existent.

They refuse to help me with my panic attacks. They say they arent allowed to write a pres. for the medicaton that does work. They keep writing stuff that does not help at all. Mental health facility cant write a script on something i had been on for years and worked???

I would greatly give them a 0 Star don't trust any one their from the nurse to the PA Crappies. They are in it for a paycheck and not truly caring about the patients. I'm going outside of the box for my grievance. The PA Crappies have to answer to board members for prescription or a doctor that doesn't see you.

Was told that I “didn’t have adhd” without any type of exam or even questions asked to confirm. Even though I’ve been diagnosed and taking medicine for years through a different provider. Very dismissive attitudes from both doctors I’ve seen. Have not and will not be back, it’s worth it to pay a little more for respect and attentiveness from a different provider

UPDATE now the new child doctor has refused to refill my daughter's ADHD medication without cause or Reason has purposely tried make her do without her medication for 2 weeks!!!! I want her the Dr. to resign or fired the Burke Center is to make sure this kind of thing doesng 't happen To make sure the children have what they need The Burke center is failing my son with severe ADHD who is currently transferring from child to Adult who is set up to begin college and I fear he will not even have a chance now that the medicine that works and enabled him to even remotely control himself and concentrate is now being abruptly refused to continue to prescribe it just because he is 18! If he is trying to better himself and stay in school he should be able to continue to be prescribed what will help him do that!

Hey! I am so thankful this has been a place of refuge for my socioeconomical and domestic violence problems I have two protective orders on two parties to leave me alone. I have had a past of bad boyfriends and their narcissistic friends who have lied to me and stolen from me and looked past really simple health issues which fogged me up really bad for a long time. I mean I almost died at least once or twice as a young child and have found some really bad deals growing up along the way. Wow! Keeping my own beliefs and trying to keep the enemy away and out of my mind body spirit has not been easy as a middle aged woman. Burke is alright. I am grateful for them, but I don't like it when they change my appointments when I rely on the city bus or Uber, etc. No I am not the one too good for the five dollar bus vouchers. Well at 40 I have to admit as a patient there at Burke I honestly had a recent problem with missing an appointment and rescheduling myself, so there is the humanity I have! Today Feb 18, 2022 was a wonderful day to visit Burke, Hearts for the Homeless was there. It is always good to see them. They made me my sugar cookies I love so much with colored frosting and sugar sprinkles.

I’ve been receiving Burke’s services for a while now and let me just say they are subpar at best. Staff is rude, and the prescriptions take forever to come in. I’ve had to stop medications abruptly not by choice before because they can never get me my medication refilled in time. Some of the medications they’ve prescribed me has side effects that can cause seizures if the user isn’t weaned off of it, so SUPER DANGEROUS. The only time I’ve seen a therapist/case worker there they tried saying Thai Chi karate yoga essentially would help me cure my PTSD. Then my next appointment with them my case worker forgot my name and called me a different name the entire appointment. They don’t care about you, or your health. Period.

I really truly wanted to like Burke but after my last appointment I am not sure about that. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 19, and took it for 6 years and it completely changed my life. After losing insurance, I came to Burke, only for Edith to tell me she doesn’t think I have adhd, without even asking me about any symptoms. I can tell you with every fiber in my body that I have adhd, and it is frustrating to know that multiple people have told me I have it, only for Burke to tell me I don’t.

You get what you pay for. Save yourself a lot of hassle and find a PhD psychologist that you can deal with directly. This place is so overwhelmed they let nurses write prescriptions. Way too many people involved to have a clue what is really going in. Just passing the buck. I’m going through hell after dealing with this place. You can find a psychiatrist for about 150 a hour. It’s worth it. I have no idea how much the two ER trips I took last week will cost me but I’m sure it’s a lot more than what it would have cost to see my own psychiatrist. What good is it trying to help everyone if you give everyone poor care? You people are spread to thin to be effective.

I am happy that I found this on your website. Being that I know Nacogdoches well, my guess is you don't get to many reviews. The Burke Center has been a major resource of support for me. I was referred in 1990ish by a local therapist and since that time I have utilized the resources you provided me over the years. They have helped me to gain and maintain employment and support myself as well as receiving moral support. I have been a better mother, daughter, and friend to all. I have the utmost trust in your services, and as you have before, I trust you will always be a safe place for me to turn if in need. Blessings, Melissa
