A hidden gem! Very friendly staff and the store has a variety of books, new and used, children and adult, local and worldwide authors. The store is smaller than I thought it would be, but big enough to browse the shelves for an hour or two. Fun sayings tucked where least expected and the decor relates to books, even old typewriters on display. Chairs are throughout the shop. Parking is a lot is connected to several of the shops/restaurants in the area.
Was at the Cooper Young festival and had to stop in and check out this alluring book store. I thought it most adorable and well done. It was labeled will and had places available in the nooks of each section. I very well may have gotten a book or 2, it's just there were too many people to browse with intent. I'm grateful they were prospering and hope to visit again in the near future.
Quaint, neat little bookstore in Memphis. Parking is adjacent and is free. Staff was exceptional, selection was great and well-organized. If you’re looking for a good used book, or book by a Southern/Tennessee author, you’ve got a good chance of finding it here. Prices are great, as well. Definitely look forward to my next visit here.
Burke's Bookstore, a rare find, is more like a small little Nook of a store. Thing about like we're getting a selection of both new and used books as well as some local knick knacks. You don't see this kind of bookstore very often anymore. They have a great selection of local books both about Memphis and books by Memphis authors. We spent a very pleasant 30 minutes browsing the store's inventory. The staff is helpful and friendly. It has the good vibe of a very faint musty smell of a used bookstore. They maintain a small collection of rare books as well. Though the selection and size of the store is modest, they are more than willing to help you with special orders and finding what you need. It happens to be near two other good places to stop. The Memphis Drum Shop is literally just down the block and Celtic Crossings Irish Pub is across the street. It's worth stopping in to see this bookstore if you happen to be at either of those spots as well. Parking is on street and free.
A huge selection of books a few problems 1. They don’t have The Rolling Stones all the albums all the songs 2. They don’t have Martin Scorsese a retrospective 3. They don’t have the Beatles all the songs Three reasons I want those 1. Martin Scorsese a retrospective i wanted to look at the movies he made and he made a lot of awesome movies 2. The Beatles all the songs I wanted to read it since I’m a really huge fan of the Beatles and there popular 3. The Rolling Stones all the albums all the songs I wanted to read it because I’m a huge fan of The Rolling Stones and I like there albums/songs
I enjoyed this quaint bookstore. Bought a few used books. Prices are fair and selection is good. Service was helpful. I’ll be back.
A Memphis institution, not to be missed if you're a bibliophile. Family-owned and operated. Only drawback I know of is a surprisingly lame science-fiction selection. Their copious general fiction makes up for it, though.
Calling all book lovers and collectors!! Walking into Burke's Book Store is a welcoming a warm environment. Shelves and rows of unlimited books, magazines, novels and flashback photos. The books here are beyond reasonably priced including hard backs. The store offers a childrens section in the rear and a signed, original copy section towards the front. This store does take both cash and card which is utterly convenient for the progressive lifestyle we live.
One of my favorite bookstores in Memphis. I love their reading selection. If I can't find something, they're pretty good about placing in an order for me. The owners and staff are really friendly and overall it's a great atmosphere. I love coming here especially around the holidays when they offer gift wrapping. Super neat place!
Lot of options for someone with an open mind looking for something that will catch their eye. Also a good spot for finding local Memphis/regional nonfiction.
