I’ll start by saying Dr Hickey is great! Unfortunately I can’t say the same with the rest of the office staff. I had an appointment for my daughter at 845, for school and work purposes, and after sitting in a room for over an hour decided to ask if there was an estimate of when we would be seen. Although I appreciate them taking their time with patients being notified there was a delay would have been helpful. After being given the run around of who to talk to I eventually ended up back at the front desk where I very calmly voiced my concern and was barked at to let her finish explaining and was told it would be a good idea to look at another dr office. I can’t express my frustration enough on the terrible customer service.
My entire family have been LONG time patients at this practice. There were always some hiccups, as will happen anywhere, but whatever is going on there lately is problematic and concerning. Our dissatisfaction started in the year or two before the COVID emergency and things have only become worse. Some things, like lab turnarounds, are not in their control, but some of it definitely is. I am not sure if that would be the control of the physicians at the practice or perhaps the executives who run Community Care, who may be making it impossible for them to deliver high-quality and timely care. I know they are the only practice we are affiliated with who have felt the need to send out letters asking that their patients not yell at their staff....twice. When I first received that I felt awful that the state of our society would require this....but having my own recent experiences, I am wondering if patients are just at their wit's end. I am giving this a three. We like many of the people at this practice and hope things turn around.
Not really one to do reviews however- as a first time mom I’m always researching everything thoroughly. From medications, to foods, to brands of toys and clothes and especially doctors. As one mom to another, I love Burnt Hills Pediatrics. I was able to call and get an appointment the same day. My daughter had her two month shots and the doctor and nurse were amazing with my daughter. She barely cried and they’re very thorough with answering questions. Also, whenever we go there we never have to wait very long and the secretaries are very nice. It’s a very important thing to be able to have faith in a doctor as they’re responsible for the well being of your baby when in their care. I have no doubt in my mind that my daughter is in great hands. And to a first time mom, that means everything. Over all just a very warm, welcoming and caring place.
Don’t go here if you need a medication filled each month, staff is unmotivated, have had to wait several times past the dates I should be able to get my medications, and have had them overall screw up multiple visits and be a major inconvenience for me. It took them over an hour to administer a covid test, as well as over a week to get it back to me after both me repeatedly telling them I need it within 3 days and then reassuring me I’ll get it within that time period. These people don’t care about you or your time, and it really shows
We have been going here for almost a year. I was surprised by some recent reviews. We have had great experiences. We see Quinn and she always takes time to listen, talk about what changes we can make before medication and has been very helpful. I haven't had any problems getting our medication even when changing delivery methods. The front office staff is very friendly and using the app I get responses right away. I recommend them.
I would like to give a 5-star rating but after my experience speaking with the office manager today and the difficulty I've been having obtaining my son's medication prescription since I called it in last Thursday, I can't. I called well in advance of my son's last dose on Monday. I called the pharmacy to make sure it was ready and was told they didn't have the prescription. I called the office and was assured they would call it in before they closed so I would have it for my son to take this morning. I called the CVS at 4:38 pm, no prescription. I couldn't get through to the office so I called 1st thing this morning and was again promised they'd call it in right away. 1 hr later, called CVS, no prescription. I called the office again, got the same assurances, but this time I asked to speak to the office manager. I have never had an issue with anyone in Burnt Hills Pediatrics until today. No one has ever acted with less common courtesy and manners than Rachel did by cutting me off and then denying she did so multiple times. She was rather rude as if she were the wronged party in what was happening when it was MY SON who was going to be affected by her staff's lack of efficacy. I will continue to take my family to see Dr. Gaylord because I refuse to lose the wonderful rapport he has with not only myself but my sons as well, but I will be wary of any and all interactions with the rest of the staff and have an extra sharp eagle-eye on everything they're supposed to be doing.
Unconscionable. The actions of two doctors I've worked with there can only be described as that. Both Dr. Brueggemann and Dr. Hickey have provided routine care for my children since birth. We fired Dr. Hickey after 3 initial visits when it was clear she didn't know how to work with new parents or breastfed babies. Sure, she didn't listen during appointments and talked "at" us a lot but the straw that broke the camel's back was when she accused me of making my EBF newborn "anorexic" because she was below the 10th percentile. She's just fine, btw. Dr. B has provided care for my children for 5 years, until today. She doesn't work Fridays. Our Daycare doesn't like our kids to get shots mid-week bc they can't go if they have a fever. For the last 4 years I've been scheduling well-visits with the Dr. mid week and nurse visits on Fridays for their routine inoculations. An inconvenience, but manageable. My son's well-visit was being moved from tomorrow due to impending weather. I emphasized that I'd really like to keep his Friday apt to get his shots closer to on-schedule since we're 3 months behind at this point anyway thanks Covid, lol. I said "if we keep having to push back and push back and push back, I'll eventually need to find another practice." I want to immunize my children and want to do it pretty close to schedule. I received a call back and was informed that the doctor recommends I find another practice. She's removing a 18 month from her care because I was worried about pushing the schedule for the shots too much. She also didn't tell me this herself. Unconscionable. Finding a new physician is hard. Establishing new patient care is hard. Doing it with a baby in a pandemic, in an area where no local physicians are taking new patients, can only be characterized as **gross neglect of her duty of care. ** I'll add- she doesn't communicate during visits. Doesn't ask for consent or teach the important concept of consent during physicals with my daughter. I had to ask her to "please explain what your'e doing while you're doing it" to put my 5 y.o. at ease for her last well-visit. Finding a doctor is hard. But I strongly recommend steering clear of BH Pediatrics. Keep looking to find a good doctor who works with a basic level of human decency and higher standard of care. There's one star here because the system won't let me leave 0. So I'll add a bright light in that horrible place is Dr. B's nurse, Jordan, and the admin staff at the front window.
They used to be the most amazing doctors. I don't know if it is laws that have changed, their becoming a part of Community Care Physicians, or something else, but over the past few years they have gone completely downhill. The people answering the phone are completely unreliable; the doctors are too busy to spend more than 5 minutes with you IF you actually get to see your doctor; and everyone is interested in checking boxes on a tablet and moving on to the next patient. They have lost connection with what it means to provide patient care. You would get more care by taking a number at your local deli.
Please don't take your kids there if you care about the treatment you are going to receive. I was looking to establish a new provider for my son since we recently moved and it was too far away for us to drive to his current provider. My son had a runny nose and I needed to get him covid tested as well. The office person told me that it would be ok to establish a telehealth appointment since he had symptoms. I waited for 40 minutes on the phone, and when their NP got on the phone, she spent more time explaining that my son is not considered a patient than actually providing medical care 4 minute call. She stated that they didn't know anything about him, which is usually the case when someone is a new patient. I told her that she could request records from his current pediatrician. She acted like they were doing us a big favor. The only thing she did was to refer for a covid test, which I took my son to one of their facilities. I waited for 2 days without calling them and asking for results, although I needed to return to work and my son was missing school. On the second day at 5 :30 pm I received a voicemail stating that the office is closed and I needed to call tomorrow. I have a hard time believing that they got results right when the office is closed. When I called them the following morning, their office personnel acted like they were annoyed with my call and stated " I don't know what to tell you, you can come here and get the results, we wont send the results directly to the school", which seemed to be another hoop I needed to jump through. I asked for the letter to the school as well and they told me they will do it when they get to it! The nurse called me at noon, I called her back and was told that she is busy. I asked for her to give me the time she will be available, so we don't play phone tag. She called me back at 3 pm and asked me what school it needs to go to, even though I specifically was forced to drive there and sign a HIPPA release! At that point I decided we will never deal with them again. Wait for the best part, I drove home to find a mailman delivering a certified letter stating that my son is being discharged as a patient and we need to find a new provider! It was sent on the same day that they didn't have time to send a letter to my son's school???? They had time to do that but not what they actually were paid for? I have never ever been treated so disgustingly disrespectful in my life! The letter was just an attitude from incompetent staff that was called out on NOT doing their jobs. I never filled out new patient forms and you can't discharge someone who is NOT a patient! I filed a grievance with my insurance and will have their conduct investigated. This behavior is not ok in any setting. PLEASE STAY AWAY. I actually called another provider, whose office was respectful and asked for medical records from previous provider and said call us when you need a visit. What a difference! No attitude, professionalism, no unnecessary hoops!
Will definitely be changing doctors really soon . Called three different times to get some simple re-fills on meds . Went three different times to pick them up and they are yet to be filled . If there is an issues , would't you think someone would call ,me? NO - Horrible Practice.
