Butler County Courthouse

Description

The Butler County Courthouse is a government building of Butler County located in the county seat, Butler, Pennsylvania. The current structure is the third courthouse to have been built for the county. The original courthouse, built in 1807, was a small structure made of stone. James P. Bailey, who was responsible for the construction of Old Main at Geneva College became the architect of the new courthouse after the second one was destroyed by a fire in 1883. It was built in 1885, and is a three-story, brick and sandstone building in an interpretation of the High Victorian Gothic style. It features a large central, four-faced clock tower with two double pyramid shaped roofs.Bailey's courthouse still stands today, and is currently the tallest structure in downtown Butler. The facility includes a Westinghouse elevator installed in the late 50s early 60s, several stained glass windows, a grand staircase connecting the first and second floors. The first and second floors are more designed to be gothic and art deco with several crown moldings, domed ceilings, marble floors and walls, and woodwork as well. The upper two floors have been made into offices and courtrooms. In the early 1990s a new government annex building was constructed beside the courthouse. The two structures are connected via skywalk. The annex building is 5 stories and consists of 2 basement levels, making a total of 7 floors. All 7 levels house offices and courtrooms.

Very horrible have to wait on a judge that's over an hour late. Packed court rooms. No one knows what is going on down there because no one communicates. There is a lack of professionalism! Tried leaving a report of concern on thier website and it just reloads the page so you can't report any of your concerns.
The staff was extremely unhelpful; practically useless. They don't pick up the phone, or answer questions. They also show no willingness to help their customers or taxpayers. Their website is also misleading and doesn't provide you with accurate information. Thank you.
Used to end up in this place often but glad I moved out of state to never ever ever walk into or handcuffed and dragged into this awful place ever again, The legal process is ultra SLOW, Although one judge and one probation officer was good.
Hate having to go to court, but I was in and out in under 30 minutes this time.
The entire Court system in Butler County is a complete joke. The only reason I gave it a star is because that is the only way I can write a review.. But no stars are deserved from me. Once you are in the system here is very hard to get out. I personally feel that they don't want you out. Yes I am a convicted felon and am on State Parole doing EVERYTHING I am supposed to. My payments are on time every month and am in perfect compliance with Parole. It's very hard to find employment with a record and yes it's consequences to my poor actions and I take full responsibility but for once I am trying very hard to become a productive and ACCEPTED member of society. On 3/28/17 I was taken to Butler county from State Prison to finalize a misdemeanor case from 2014 that resulted in a$50 fine plus court costs. This court action had to take place in order for Butler's detainer on me to be lifted so I could be released on Parole in May. Well.. Yesterday I get a letter from the GENIUS staff in the clerk of courts that my case has been inactive for 2 years and I'm scheduled for General Call in December of this year.?????? REALLY????? Inactive for 2 years??? Well.. Let's see.. Been in prison for 2 years but not only that I WENT TO COURT FOR IT IN MARCH!!!!! YOU PEOPLE PICKED ME UP!!! I realize mistakes are made, in fact, I am the king of mistakes, but this is ALL THE TIME with this County. The relief I have knowing I'm done with this County is more than when I walked out of prison walls and that's SAD. BUTLER COUNTY is infamous for messing up court papers, detainers, warrants, court dates, release dates, transfer orders.. EVERYTHING. THAT will be next.. I'm sure sheriff's will show up sometime during my Parole to take me in for this case even though it's been done since May and when that happens there will be a major lawsuit. Get it together Butler County!! And answer your phones!!!!
No justice here period. It's all fraud! Jural assemblies are where real justice is. People need to get the courts back from these BAR member criminals!
I live in butler. I'm not sure, but I think I do.
Efficient, friendly, and accommodating staff.
system for punishing people .
