This museum is part of a larger group of museums preserving aircraft that are still flying. This site has a great collection of planes, including a Marines Corp spec B25, zero fighter, and F4F Hellcat, to name a few. The museum covers a large portion of the airport. The three large hangers are accessible as part of the tour the museum leads. Hanger two has a bear cat fighter under restoration presently, so it is not available for viewing on our visit. The staff here was very accommodating to the kids and letting them take pictures of the planes. Our docent Don was great and gave a unique tour of the hangers.
Wow what a wonderful discovery We enjoyed visiting and discovering new things about our past ... the little ones were boisterous and still our tour guide remained patient and calm ... it was wonderful to watch my Air Force Guy ... remember the past with respect and awe
Really cool place! The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entry$6–10
Stumbled across this gem on the way to the outlets. And we're so glad we did. It was sucha great museum that had an awesome collection of memorabilia from past wars. The planes look amazing as well. Being able to get to look up close and personal with these planes was so cool. There's a select few that you can fully walk inside during the tour. Hands down will come back, they also host an air show and we're hoping to make it. Thanks for the staff and special thanks to Avery Willis? He gave an awesome tour and had great insight on the mechanics, planes and history. Check it out! $10 is totally worth it for the hour and half or 2 hour tour!
Not many planes, but most are the last or most unique flying examples. The docents are wonderful!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10

This museum is not the largest in the world but it's a very high quality museum. The interesting thing about it is that nearly all of their aircraft are airworthy. Aircraft represented include a Spitfire XIV, a B-25/PBJ Mitchell, T-6 Texan, Me-108, Mig-17, and many more. If you're in the Camarillo, CA area and you enjoy military aircraft, this museum is definitely worth a visit. I'd like to give a special shout out to Shane Thompson. Shane went out of his way to personally show me the museum's collection. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you!
The Commemorative Air force Museum is definitely one of the more exciting Passport 2 History participants! Full disclosure: the real meat of this museum are the planes outside. They have a bunch of cool ones, and you're right out on the runway of the airport, so there are actual real planes taking off and landing all the time, which is cool. The coolest part is that there are two planes and a helicopter that you can go into! My toddler loved it! He literally didn't want to leave each one to see the next. It was kind of a problem actually... But eventually after our guided tour, we were left to go at our own pace, so we literally went and sat in each of those planes and helicopter again for quite some time as my son for to push all the buttons and "steer". This is definitely a great place to check out and take your toddler. It is a $10 suggested donation for adults, which while I understand it, felt a bit pricey as you're not going to be here too long. Not so much for going once... but this is the type of place I'd love to visit again and again with my toddler just for a half hour of sitting in the plane, and I wouldn't be able to afford that. The museum part is okay, but fairly small. It's definitely an afterthought to the planes. If you're traveling from LA, there are a TON of places to see not far from here... so you could make a day or it. Check out The Western Foundation of Vertebrae Zoology, The Pleasant Valley Historical Society Museum and Botanical Gardens, The Antique Mall of Camarillo to name a few...
We were at the Wings Over Camarillo Air Show as an exhibitor and the CAF staff were fantastic. They were so accommodating and hospitable that we really felt welcomed. And our location in the Veteran's hangar provided a great view of the show. Tuskegee Airmen Legacy and Beyond thanks the CAF Camarillo for allowing us to display and we look forward to displaying there in the future.
Great air museum! I would highly recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in WW2 and early jet aviation. The volunteers that work here are super friendly and have a wealth of information to share.
