How To Get A Library Card

For Jefferson County Residents (No Fee)*
You must have the following:
-A picture ID (State or Government Issued)
-Two (2) items with your Name and Current Address [IL ID, Checkbook, Mail, etc.]

If you are under 18 years old and do not have a driver's license, you must have your parent or legal guardian with you to get a library card. They must provide the above information.

Illinois Resident outside of Jefferson County:
$100.00 fee per year

*Grand Prairie Township residents are in the Centralia Library district and get their card at Centralia.

Such a great place to get books from! You can even request books from other libraries and in a few weeks they'll be there. It's pretty hot in there in the winter but not too unbearable. The people there were very nice and always help me out when I'm looking for something specific.
We’ve been visiting this library regularly for over 25 years. Especially after our kids were born and got into reading we visited every couple of days. Now my granddaughter loves going! I can’t say enough about being appreciative of having a nice local library with great staff!

Terrible library. Just wanted to go pick up some books to learn piano. But apparently I owe $200 on a previous account from when I was 12years old. Probably about the same time the book I wanted has been on the shelf seeing how the treat the few people that do go here. Staff completely unwilling to help.
Our family loves the local library. The staff is knowledgeable and they always have what we want. You can borrow DVDs, BluRays, and audio books. We appreciate everyone who works there.

They were very helpful over the phone with a pretty technical question about printing from my phone, and telling me how I'd have to do it. I'm a musician who has a great need to have lyrics on paper. So yeah these people know what they're doing.
C.E. Brehm is a great small town library. As one part of a larger collection of libraries, they are able to find almost anything you would want. They have a large genealogy section. They have a children's floor. They have approximately 10 computers for public use. They also have movie night and other activities for kids. I do miss the old-fashioned librarians that would "Shush" you if you became too loud. These librarians talk constantly, and loud enough for everyone to hear. But, I was once told by one of them that the sound of the buttons on my smartphone was too loud. What?! Seriously?! I didn't know they could hear anything over their own yapping. And why does it take a dozen forms of identification - including personal references - to get a library card here? They're just books!
Very neat & clean, helpful librarians, found books on my topic, soooo much to see there. Great library.
